„Why did you come? Don't you see they made fun of you? I wanted to protect you from all this. These people they are not like you Gauri. They judge others by their status, cloths and language. "Omkara said his voice softening seeing her tears.
Gauri nodded and looked away. She knew he was right but still she felt so humiliated, like she brought him shame.
Suddenly she heard a woman say: "Om is it true? I heard she is your wife? This Behenji like Girl? "disgust evident in her voice. Gauri turned to run, not able to keep listening to any more insults thrown her way but was held back by Omkara, who shook his head. He pulled her close and whipped away her tears. He hated seeing her hurt.
„Don't you dare say that again about her. She is one of the most innocent and pure people I have ever seen. She isn't blinded by money, fame or status. She loves me for who I am , for my personality not because I am an Oberoi. Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi cares about the person and that's what makes my WIFE so unique. She is differentand that's what made me fall in love with her. You wouldn't understand that in a thousand Years".
Omkara tried to keep his cool but hearing these things about the woman he loved just triggered his anger beyond imagination. He didn't like the idea of her being made fun of, the idea of people judging her. So what she doesn't know how to speak English? She was one of the very few people who understood life, one of the very few people that thought by heart not by mind. Omkara knew that he should be thankful for everyday he got to spend with her. She was the one thing he was not and he aspired to give her his everything.
Gauri couldn't believe her ears. Had he just called her his wife? Did he just tell all those people that her being unique made him fall in love with her? She looked into his eyes and saw that he meant every word he had uttered. She couldn't help but smile. Finally had he acknowledged her as his wife. Finally, he had accepted their marriage.
„Lekin Om- "the Woman started again but was stopped by his raised hand.
„Stop right there. I don't want to hear it. She is my wife, my unique wife. The woman that showed me that I didn't need to be hurt or angry to create art- she showed me that just by living and loving I could be just as good as an artist than I was before. I always believed my anger was the fuel to my art but now I realize all I needed was Love. Unconditional Love".
The reporters smiled at his words and kept making many pictures. Gauri tried to hide her face; certainly her make-up was hideous after she started to cry. She wanted to look perfect for him, to make him feel proud having her standing beside him. Om gently lifted her face and made sure she looked just as perfect as always. He loved her no matter how smudged her mascara or eyeliner was.
„It took me a while and I am sorry for that!" He whispered against her forehead when he leaned down to kiss her there. She closed her eyes, realizing he had kissed her Maang where she had put on sindoor. Slowly without noticing all the bystanders she raised her hands and caressed his face. She saw all the love she needed to believe that they were equal. That he was as much hers as she was his. He loved her, he had accepted her as his wife in front of all this people. Gauri tried hard to fight her tears because she didn't want him to worry. He was her one and only. She couldn't even describe the feeling of pride when he had said those things about her.
If they would have been alone she knew exactly what he would do to her and she couldn't wait till they got into their privacy of their Bedroom. As if reading her thoughts, he smiled.
They had wasted enough Time, Omkara thought. He wanted to make her his finally.
As in reading his thoughts she blushed and caressed his hair.
