A Dream

Dreams. They are things we have often. We wish. We want. But often not, we do not get. We may try to get these dreams, but they often slip through our grasps. Dreams are fickle things that leave us just like a parent does when they no longer want their child. Dreams are everything that make a person and nothing at the same time. Though of all the dreams, there was one that  kept a man going. The dream to be great and do great things, to do all that others couldn't.

Our story begins with a man named Damien. Damien wanted nothing more than to be the best of the best in terms of excelling in academics. He was a sweet boy, with a strict but loving family, and a strange older sister who loved the occult more than the average person. He didn't mind, accepting it all with loving arms. He worked hard, grew to be a strong young man, and with a sweet demeanor and suave personality, he secured himself a position as the town's mayor.

He grew close to many people, especially a dear friend who soon became his district attorney. It all seemed so perfect, but Damien still had a dream. He wanted to be the best Mayor. He wanted to actually do something in the world to change it, to make the future so much better for the human race's descendants when he was gone. Though things wouldn't turn out that way. No, he'd foolishly accept an invite to a party with his friends, leading to the fateful night of October 13, 1922.

Nothing but death and sorrow filled those days after, and it was soon over for him when his supposed friend took his body. It was all so.... horrid. He felt nothing but hurt, and his sibling talked him into an action that he agreed to. He hated it, but it was his only choice. He.. He still had a dream to complete. He wasn't going to give it up, and he never would. So once the district attorney became deceased, they took action. The process was painful, waking up on the floor with a searing pain through his back. It felt like a piece of metal was pierced through his back.

The discs of his spine were either bulging inward or ruptured, adding to the pain of the broken vertebrae. Though after getting up, albeit with some struggle, a sudden cold numbness took over him. He couldn't think, the echo of a thousand voices making all thought impossible. With each moment, it was becoming more and more difficult. Soon, he was unconscious, unaware of his world anymore.
