Going Hedgehog! Book One

23:Sonic (as Danny then himself)

Why did he have to find the remote? Danny just about ruined my life! I'll probably never see Vlad again, I'll never have ghost powers again. And he made me break Ember's heart. The worst part is...

I won't see my own kids' birth. All I needed was three days!

We reach the hospital and we all go to room B-4. I knock on the door lightly. After I hear a raspy 'come in' from Vlad, we all walk in.

"H-hi, uncle Vlad," I greet trying not to sound upset, "How ya doing?"

"Still...terrible," Vlad wheezes and it pains my heart, "You sound upset. What's bothering...you?"

I look at Ember and then Danny. I feel tears fall down my face and they keep flowing.

"I-I...I have to go," I cry, "He's making me go, I'm not ready! I wanna see you happy and well again before I go anywhere. I wanna see my baby twins Amber and Emma. I wanna keep going ghost!"

"Sonic, if..." Vlad coughs a lot, he's getting worse, "If you stay here any longer, you might fade away. I don't want you to die, Sonic, not for me."

"But I'll miss you," I sigh, "I've never had a real family. No uncles, no girlfriend, no children-"

"Wait nine months," Danny says guiltily, "There'll be a surprise."

"You mean..." I hesitate, "Who?"

"Who do you think?" he asks annoyed.

"No! No, not her!" I scream releasing my ghost wail on him.

"Would you stop that!?" he yells.

"You mean this!!" I yell cockily. I release another ghostly wail.

"Okay, that's it!" Danny yells and he presses a button.

I freeze for a while and then unfreeze.

"Did it work?" asks the human.

I look at my hands, they're gloved. I look at myself, I have blue fur. I'm Sonic the Hedgehog.

"It worked," I say sourly, "Whoop-de-doo."

"No need for the attitude, hedgehog," Danny smirks, "And now..." He releases a ghostly wail, "Payback."

I quickly recover from the wail and stand to my feet. I smirk back at him. I zoom around him then roundhouse kick him in the head.

I missed that move.

"Guys, stop fighting," Ember wails releasing it on both of us.

"I can't...stand to..." Vlad coughs some more, "see you two...fight. Not...while I'm in this condition. Sonic...I know you probably...hate his guts right now, but...violence doesn't solve anything. Daniel...I know you're mad...but there's no need...for payback."

"Uncle-I mean, Vlad's right," I agree, "We should be worried about him right now."

"That's not...what I meant," Vlad protests, "Just quit with the fighting. I have a headache."

I walk over to Vlad and put my hand on his head.

"Ouch!?" I scream, "You're as hot as fire! My gloves are burnt now."

"Ssssorry," his talking starts to get slower.

"What's wrong with him?" I sound frantically worried now.

It's because I am.

"Burning head, headache, slow talking," Ember repeats the symptoms, "those are all symptoms to...Efflare Disease! Vlad, this is bad."

"What is Efflare Disease?" asks Danny.

"It's a rare disease that only halfa's get," Ember states, "Basically, unless you find the cure, the ghost inside isn't going to live long."

"But that's just Plasmius," I say, "What's the big deal. You're just losing the ghost part of you."

"IIIIIII hhhaaappeeenn-"

"To like your ghost form," Danny completes for him.

"You don't understand halfas, do you?" Ember asks, "If his ghost form dies, he'll die sooner than he's supposed to. And the worst part...he'll have no afterlife."

"Oh," I say now understanding, "You mentioned a cure."

"On a planet called Mobius, there's a ghost portal," says Ember, "In there is a thermos. Get the thermos and bring it back here. The thermos is very hard to find, so you gotta keep a good look out."

"Mobius is my home planet," I say, "Can I get it?"

"You need a ghost to allow you into the portal," Ember adds.

"I guess I have to come with you," Danny sighs.

"Don't worry, Vlad," I turn my attention to my uncle, well, Danny's uncle, "We're going to cure you."

He just gives us a thumb up.

"You have a week only," Ember explains, "So hurry, but be careful."

"We will," Danny and I say in unison.

And our new journey begins...
