"Mom, please!"

"I said no. I'm really sorry sweetheart, but I can't have you walking in the streets so late at night."

I groaned and banged my head against the wall.

"Mom, i'm seventeen! I can handle it on my own! And besides, don't you remember how I handled Rebecca last year?"

"I remember it clear as day, Aika."

"So-"

"You threw a pillow at her, pushed her on the ground and ran away as she was about to attack you. I don't think you're ready for combat today." I stared at her, and looked away. She has a point.

My mom sighed. "I hate to do this to you, Aika. I know how much you love music, but not now."

I looked at the floor hard, trying to hold back my tears. Great, now I feel like a three year old.

But I sucked my tears in, and faced my mother.

"I'll do anything you want, Mom. Just please, let me go to the festival. This may be the only time i'll be able to go. Next year, i'll be working hard for college 24/7." I stared at my mom, showing how desperate I was.

My mom looked at me for a long time, then looked away and crossed her arms.

"You always catch me off guard with those puppy eyes." I smiled.

"Well, I did get those from dad." My mom chuckled. "He was adorable. Anyways, if you're willing to go to that festival.."

"I want you to clean your room, feed Debra's dog, take out the trash, wash the dishes and water our garden."

"Then you will let me go to the festival?"

My mom nodded.

A boost of motivation was welcomed into my heart and soul, and I got to work right away.

I dashed up my room, and went sonic speed around in my room. Tossing things in the closet, continuously beating my bed to get the dust off, tripping over pillows and clothes.

After that, I ran next door and nearly scared Debra's dog half to death after seeing me run like a psycho (I had to sing to him for him to calm him down, i'm so sorry) and I fed him treats and gave him water.

Once that was done, I gathered the garbage and took out the trash.

Almost out of breath, I washed the dishes quickly, looking back and forth at the time.

The festival started at 6 pm to 10 pm.

And at last, when I finished, I went for the garden.

I started watering the plants and flowers one by one, slowly but a bit fast. When I got to the last plant, my heart started pounding in excitement.

I placed the bucket down and went to find my mom.

I found her sleeping on the couch.

I sigh and nudge her.

My mom opened her eyes slowly, and saw me. "Oh, it's you."

I roll my eyes and smile.

"I did everything you said! Now, can I go and get ready?"

My mom sighed but smiled softly and sat up.

"I have no choice, because of your dedication, I will not let it waste. I expect you to be back by ten. Not by 11, and not 12! She ordered, and I nodded happily.
