I made a nervous sound that kind of sounded like a squeak as I slowly walked over and joined the other Unwanteds. I stood next to this girl that I didn't really know. She didn't really look thirteen. She was pretty short.

"Hey. I'm Dixie," she said somehow sounding cheerful.

I just stood there and stared at her like she was crazy. "How can you be so happy?" I finally asked. "You do realize that we are about to be shipped off to our deaths, right?"

"Just ignore her." I heard a girls voice from behind me. "And I'm Saige if you were wondering. Which you probably weren't but I told you anyway. " She made her face go into a silly smile that kind of resembled a duck.

They started calling out the Wanteds, which disturbed our conversation.

"Shh!" I said. "I want to know who the Wanteds are."

"Lena Smith. Alen Lee. Lucky White. Natthias Martin."

"Uuuuuugggghhhhh. That's my brother." Dixie moaned. "Why does he get to be a Wanted. I mean he's just... aaarrrrrggg!"

"Who? That Natthias guy?" she smirked. "Ooooo I'm Natthias. I'm cool because I'm a Wanted. Ha ha ha you people have to die." Saige was joking around and acting somewhat like a monkey for a reason I will never know.

I could tell that she would be a good friend. If only I met her sooner. Now we would have to serve our death sentence, being pushed into a giant pool of toxic boiling oil. YAY!

They finished up the Wanteds and the group of Unwanteds slowly began to trickle away, me following the rest of the crowd. I looked around and realized Saige and Dixie weren't with the group. I hope they got away, I thought to myself. Then they wouldn't have to suffer like I will. I heard a noise from behind me. It was the guards they were pushing two people along, Unwanteds probably. They looked like they didn't want to go where they were supposed to.

Wait.  I looked back just to make sure and sure enough, it was who I thought it was, Saige and Dixie. They had tried making a run for it and obviously failed.
