I walk inside, Goldy, my dog runs up to me.
"Hey boy."
He pants as he follows me down the hall to my room.
I toss my bag onto my beanbag and lay on my bed. I sigh.
"You have any advice for girls Goldy?"
He jumps up on the bed laying his head on my chest. He lets out a low whimper.
"Me too bud." I scratch his head. "Me too."
The sun goes behind clouds making the room darken. I stare straight at the ceiling, just thinking.
My law classes enter my mind. All the stress of passing the class then taking it in college for a few years until I finally finish all the tests and exams. But what will everything be like then... am I going to have the same friends? Will my mom be okay?
Will Nova be in the UK...
I sit up, "Ugh I need to get my mind off her, I mean I don't even know how she feels about me yet."
I pat Goldy's head.
"Hungry?"
His head pops up.
I laugh, "That's a yes."
We walk to the kitchen. I grab a bag of dog food out of the pantry and pour it into his bowl. Once it's back in the pantry I grab myself a container of leftovers from some Mexican restaurant, then put it in the microwave.
The microwave starts to buzz and I lean against the counter.
Outside the kitchen window is the backyard, the sunset shines through the trees lined up against the fence, they glow yellow on the edge of the wood and leaves. The grass beginning to grow wildly again but is tall even when it's cut. Clouds move across the multicolored sky reflecting on the bottom yellow, pink, or orange. The sky lights up as the view fills my sights.
The microwave beeps.
I sigh looking away and grab the food.
"C'mon Goldy." I say as I wave my arm beckoning him to follow me. I head to the back door.
He runs past me and through the doggy door. I open the door once he's through and softly close it behind me. I lay in a hammock tied up between two trees.
Goldy wanders the yard smelling bushes, trees, random parts of the grass. He looks at some birds then the sunset. He stares and seems to relax.
I turn and look also.
The sky is suddenly gold and the pink fades softly with it. The sun peaks over distant mountains barely just for a split second, then hides completely.
Goldy walks over to me and lays under the hammock.
I smile and continue to eat.
I jump softly at the sound of the front door slamming shut.
Goldy runs out to greet whoever just stormed in.
I sigh and lay back down.
"Hey!" I yell.
"What!" Yells my brother back at me.
"Don't slam the door!"
"I'll slam the door if I want to!"
I roll my eyes. "What's with the mood."
Goldy runs in the room and onto my bed. Kevin peaks his head around the corner of the door frame.
