Darkness fell over the medieval architecture of the city southwest of Florence, Italy. Volterra stood above the grassy hills creating a looming figure of the large towers over the natural landscape. The streets were quiet as tourists ventured back to their hotels while some of the locals remained lively inside the walls of their local bars. Street lamps flickered before some of the alleyways where dark shadows remained but these shadows could not compare to the dark figures that lurked beneath the city. In the tunnels that lead up to the beautiful archaic steps that led inside the beautiful halls of the Volturi's castle.
Within the walls of the castle resided a coven of vampires, the most powerful and sly coven of vampires. Even as night fell the halls were bustling with young members of the guard moving to and from to training and on the errands their masters sent them on. For the higher guard, the night was their retreat. Under the cover of night, they were free to hunt or travel, with permission from their master's, but many chose to retreat to the comfort of their rooms. That night was no different as four of the highest-ranking guard members stalked through the dark halls towards their rooms. They parted in silence the two taller men going down the right side of the hall while the sibling pair split off to the left. The two men nodded their head at each other before entering their rooms which were side by side, across from them resided two other higher guard members. The siblings each divided up as well entering their own individual rooms in the left hall on the right side (the opposite from their two friends who diverged from them earlier).
The youngest male of the quartet entered his room flicking on the light switch with ease not noticing the figure that rested on his bed, which was there for decoration purposes. He slid off the jacket he wore hanging it up in the closet before entering his bathroom where he proceeded to wash his hands of any excess blood from his earlier dinner. He took off his black dress shoes leaving them at the door of the bathroom before re-entering his bedroom. The young male stilled finally noticing the figure who lay on his bed.
A soft smirk played on the face of the young woman who lay on the silk black covers of the large canopy bed. Her soft brown hair splayed out on the sheets contrasting the dark silk material. The darkness of the room and bed only accented her painted dark red lips that stood out against her lightly tanned skin. The woman's head rolled to the side as one of her hands rested against her sternum, her fingers playing with the red and black lace nightgown that she wore.
"Nice of you to finally notice my presence Alec," The woman's voice was like honey in the air, sweet and thick. The man before her watched her lips move as she spoke his eyes following every little movement she made. His eyes darkened out of instinct as a fire ignited within his chest.
