Today's the day! Today I get to cross over. Today I get to come back alive.
OK so let's just get this cleared up. There is a portal that opens up on a persons birthday every year. It only opens once though. So today I would have been turning 17. But also today the portal opens. What the portal does is, it takes a person who is no longer alive back to the live world. That person won't come back as a spirit or ghost. They come back as themselves before they died. They come back alive and they are one year older than they were when they died. So once I go though portal I'll be alive again. I'll be 17. The thing is the portal only opens once. If someone decided to decline their chance at life again. Then the portal would close and wouldn't open again.
I walk up to the portal and look through.
"Whoa, that is a long way down",I say to myself
I look around. No one was around me at the time. I walk closer to the portal and get ready to jump through. I just abut to jump through when someone grabs my wrist.
I look behind me and see Ares Montgomery. He also died at the age of 16.He died two years ago. Accept he died in a car crash. He was driving down the highway. A car swerved into the lane Ares was in. Ares's car spun three or four times, then flipped over into a ditch. His brother, who was in the car with Ares, survived. On Ares's 17th birthday, he declined his chance to go back to the live world.
"What are you doing here, Ares?", I ask
"I want to come with you. Today is the you get to go back to the live world. I declined my chance to go back because my birthday was three days after I died. I didn't have enough time to think about going back. I have now. Will let me come with you to the live world?", Ares says
Another thing about the portals is only he person can go through. Unless that person agrees to let another person come with them. So if I say tell Ares no then he won't be able to come. If I say yes then the portal will allow him to come with me back to the live world.
"Yeah, dude. You can come."I tell Ares
Ever since I died. Ares has been there for me. He is my best friend. Not in a weird way. Ares has helped me with a lot in ways. I'm glad Ares is my friend.
"Thanks. When are you leaving?" He asks
"Right now. Let's go."
"OK."
We both gather around the portal and look down.
"On the count of three. Jump through." I tell Ares
"Got it." he says
"One... Two... Three!"
We both jump through the portal. A minute later we're on the other side. We're alive again. I look around and see that I'm at the edge of my home town. I see the sign that reads 'Welcome to Jasper, Alabama'.
"This is where you lived before you died?"Ares asked.
"Yeah. This is the place I was born, raised, and killed in." I say
"Ok, now that we're here. What are we going to do?" He asked
" I took all the money I earned from AL (After Life) and brought it through the portal with me. And that's about 500,000 dollars." I tell him
"How did you get 500,000 dollars!" Ares exclaims
"Two jobs. Both of then very long with high pay. The first one goes from 12:00 a.m. to1 12:00p.m.. The other one goes from 12:00p.m. to 12:00a.m.. 24hour shift. Not like you need to sleep in the AL anyway." I say
