Hide the Night Star by Fhrell Cee

Although it is somehow unrelated, I would like to share a stanza of this poem with you all, before giving you the first chapter. I hope you enjoy it. If you want to read the whole piece, please check my profile for the Collection Scribbles in Sand.

Crimson, bright, it shines like gold,

the color that I offer you.

Crimson, it warms the cold,

a love sweeter than honey dew.

Crimson love I hold for you.

-Crimson Love, Fhrell Cee

CHAPTER 01 - Assassination

Polaris cried as he hugged me. I kissed him on the forehead and told him everything would be okay, but I knew nothing will be. I won't be there for him anymore but I knew it was for the best. Sending him away is for the best.

He clung on me as the airport pager announced the last call for boarding. It broke my heart but I took his little fingers off my shoulders and off my neck as he struggled to attach them back.

"Dylan, I love you. Don't you forget that," I told him calling him by the name we called ourselves after changing our identity. "I will always love you my little star.

"Brother! Brother!" He cried screaming as our Uncle Antonio Mathers who we now call father took him away from me. I stood watching as he struggled reaching for me.

I felt my eyes turn misty and I bit my lips trying to suppress a sob. This is for the best.

After he had been kidnapped a week ago, I can't afford to let him stay. I have to protect him. He is the only real family I have left, my treasure.

I watched through the glass walls of the airport as the plane carrying Dylan flew. I wished the wind to bring him good luck before I walked off the airport.

On my ways passed a few stairs, I noticed a number of people following me. They didn't look obvious but with my training in the Grupposso family, one of the four pillars of the Mafia where my Uncle's family the Mather's is under, I noticed.

I didn't bring anyone with me, only father and I knew about our plan of bringing Dylan away to avoid information leak. But it seemed someone sniffed around some information scrap.

I walked casually as if I didn't notice the threat but I made certain precautions. It's not me who's going to be hunted, but I'm the one hunting. This might just give me clues to whomever it was that had my brother kidnapped.

I continued walking toward the parking area where I parked my car. I walked in front of people, moving faster and turning at different post trying to lose my pursuers.

I knew I had confused the enemy and I hid behind one pillar meters away from my car waiting for one of my pursuers. I used his reflection on one of the black cars parked on the lot to monitor his move.

I took the gun I hid under my clothes out and unlocked it.

"This is going to be fun."

I waited until my pursuer carelessly passed by the pillar where I hid and I casually walked behind him pointing the gun on his spine. He felt me and I knew he thought of fighting back but decided against it when he felt the gun pressed closer to his back.

Good choice.

"Walk," I whispered trying to act casual as I guided him to my car. Just then I saw the reflection of two other pursuers on the sides of my car. They aimed a gun behind me and I saw their fingers moved the trigger.

I spun around holding my captive in front of me just as gunshots erupted and some empty bullets shells flew. They successfully hit the person in front of me making his body spasm due to force but failed to shoot me.

I immediately returned fire and hit the first one on the leg. He slumped to the ground immediately. My second bullet went into the skull of my second target making his brain splatter on the wind shield of a car.

Amateurs!

Even when taking your enemies by surprise never let yourself be captured in the open. And for them, they just stood there pointing a gun at me not realizing they looked like target dolls.

The one I hit on the legs tried to get up and point his gun at me, but I shot it out of his hand. It landed a few feet away.

I pushed the first person I captured and used as shield away, his lifeless body fell on the ground. I no longer have any used for him since he's no longer breathing. I then walked towards the wounded guy screaming in pain as he held his wounded leg.

I smiled. Poor guy, he'd been the unlucky one to live.

I grabbed his hair and looked at his face.

No, he wasn't one of those bastards who kidnapped my brother. I don't even know if they were related to those people. But I know one person who could find out for me.

I took my phone and searched for his number. The name Damien Argentin flashed on my contact list and I pressed call.

"I have a present for you," I told the heir of the Grupposso. "It's still alive and still in good condition so at least get him to talk before anything else, okay."

"I'll see you then."
