The afternoon sky darkened as the night sky took over. Fay took her lookout spot by the van and I crawled in to the nicely set up tent. The grass that covered this patch of land is soft and comfortable. The sun kept falling down as the minutes passed. Once night comes the zombies will come with it. 2 months ago they created a cure for cancer. It was perfect. Not one of the patients showed signs of any sickness after that. Then two weeks later something unexpected happened. One week after that half the human race was gone. Now who knows.
flashback
My employer turned around and gave me a glare. His eyes burned in to mine. Then he turned around once more and walked off to his office. I got back to my job and worked for the next two hours. That's when the news popped up. A beautiful news reporter with straight white teeth and sleek brown hair. Her eyes a brilliant blue. She looked worried though. Why would a girl with beauty of that magnitude be worried? She has everything ahead of her. She can marry the perfect man and have the perfect children. I'm stuck alone without anybody.
"Get in to a safe enviroment, stock up on food and beware. We have recived news from the goverment that zombies have been created. Our cancer cure has been creating zombies! Hide and run! Grab your guns! We thought this day would never come. This is the survival of the fittest. If anyone is infected shoot them immediatly. Good luck. This is the final news report from Fay WInters. Goodbye humanity as we know it." She said. This has got to be a joke. I thought that for the next hour of work. That was my mistake.
When I was officially clocking out I heard a moan coming from the break room, so I opened up the door. There stood Marissa my colleague excpet she had a missing limb. I could see blood all over her mouth. I didn't know it was costume day. She started trudging towards me moaning.I looked at her ripped clothing and the way her head stayed upright. She looks like a zombie, but at the sametimes she doesn't have the green skin or the weird ears. Oh wait that's aliens. You need to get out more Kyle. I remembered the news cast earlier. She's is a zombie! I kicked her in the stomach and she staggered back. Before she could regain balance I ran out of the break room. I run right in to the kitchen and look back at the emergency exit. That's the only way out if I don't want to get chewed in to a million pieces and end up a zombie like the rest.
"Shit!" I yelled as I saw 10 more outside the kitchen door. My memory came through for me because I remembered there is a shotgun under the desk cabinet. I leaned down and checked for it. Perfect. I pulled it out. It still had full ammo because well it's never been used. I opened up the office door and let the bullets flow. The zombies died as I let the bullets scatter. I ran outside and looked around for anymore. The zombies were scattered all over the streets. I could hear desperate screaming far off in the distance. I founf my car and got in. I have no alive family so that means less stress for me on those lonely nights if I survive. I pull out of the parking lot. While driving down the highway I saw a sight I thought I would enver see in person. Fay winters in a car that looked as if it wouldn't start. I looked around and saw no sign of any zombies so I got out and walked over to her car. "Fay winters?" I asked. I could see the smeared eyeliner and the way she had been crying. She thought no one would come for her.
"Can I ride in your car? I have extra food and blankets please!" I nodded for my mercy is great. She got out of the car. I helped her unload the tons of food she had and the blankets and clothes.
"I will have to stop at my house, but only for a second." She nodded and got in to my car and we headed off to my house. When we got to my shabby rundown house I hurried inside. I grabbed 5 trash bags and filled 3 with food, and 2 with blankets and clothes. I walked out and had the trashbags with me. I even had a radio and 5 packs of 10 pack batteries to go with it. To top it off I grabbed a portable DvD player that charges with a car and my entire collection of movies. I put them all in the car and got in the front seat.
