The wedding was finally over and Lani waited at the table for me all day. Julie fell asleep; I offered to take her into my arms because I could see Lani was tired. I helped her up and walk her to her room. I told her we could talk tonight and she was fine with it. "Get into your pajamas and I'll go into the kitchen to make us some hot chocolate, a very popular hot drink in America." I said. She nods her head in agreement. On my way out, I close the door behind me and when I turn around Chica is in my face. "Hey, Cameron I have to tell you something really important to me because it involves you." She says touching my shoulder. "Ok so what's wrong?" I asked her.

"Let's go into your room and talk." She says
"I actually have—
"No, lets go an talk. It's very important for you to know this." So I go and follow her and we sit on the side of my bed. And she looks at me with her light greens eyes and says, "it's about Lani, it's a secret that the whole family knows. She is actually part of this family. She's actually my sister. That baby didn't come from that random guy. She used to get paid to—you know. She accidentally got pregnant with a random guy who paid her." Chica... WTF!!!! Wait are you serious, is Chica lying to me or is she telling me the truth? "I can't right now Chica, I have to go—Chica let go of me." I walked out with anger and tried not to slam the door. Everyone was still awake but it was just quiet in the house. Chica comes out of the room. "Cameron I want to be there for you every step of the way. I want to be your friend and maybe one day be more than friends." She turns me around and goes in for a kiss. I stood there frozen cuz I was hurt. All this time I thought that I could finally love someone without that someone lying to me.

I didn't pull back from the kiss but it didn't feel right either. I don't know, Lani is still in my heart and I'm in love with her and she doesn't even know it. "Look Chica I don't feel that way about you. Lately you've been acting weird and I just don't know. All I know is that I'm in love with the girl in that room who is waiting for me. So I have to go." I said and left down stairs. I made the hot chocolate like I said I would and headed to the room. I held both cups in one hand while slowly opening the door with the other. Lani sat there waiting for me and Julie still sleeping. "Lani...I have to tell you something too." I said not caring about her bad past. "Cameron, I have to tell you something and it's very important that you understand." She says and then she starts to cry a little. I put my hot chocolate down and hug her tightly but she pulls away. "We can't be together. Not at all, I have so much going on and you should get someone who isn't much trouble for you. You shouldn't be apart of my life, please just forget about me—
"How could I forget about you. The moment I saw you, I imagined you and I walking down the ail. When I first saw you, I couldn't stop thinking about you. And when I saw you again, I thought to myself "I must be the most blessed guy on earth to get a second chance to see this beautiful girl." When you came along with me I couldn't believe you came with me. I can't let go of you because I'm in love with you more than any guy could be in love with his girl. You're the girl Lani, you're the one. I don't care about your past or who you used to be. You're the girl meant for me, it's like I've known you for ever..." I had to tell her all I felt. I put my hand in her hair and lifted her head up. Then I softly kissed her as she cried. And then she slowly pulls away. "I have a daughter Cameron, there's more than you think and you still have a whole lot of ahead of you." She says. "Look just think about it and we will talk in the morning." I tell her. I gave her a kiss on the forehead and headed out.

As I walk past the staircase, I see my mom heading out. "nos vemos más tarde." Says mama Maria as she hugs my mom goodbye. "Wait!!!" I yelled as I ran down the circular stair case. "Mom? It's me Cameron, Richard's son." I say as I take off the custom made engagement ring I had on and showing it to her. She looks at it and starts crying. I hug her tightly and she says, "My boy, my sweet sweet boy. Oh how much I've missed and thought about you. How did you find me?" She says still hugging me. I'm crying like a little baby because I needed her all my life, she is standing right in front of me. "It's a long story mom, can we talk over coffee tomorrow?" I asked. She agreed and gave me another hug. She gives me her phone number and I let her know there's so much to catch up on and she says the same thing to me. Mama Maria stood there surprised. I backed her up on everything to when my mom left.
