Chapter 1

The tears that formed in his eyes were almost blinding, but he didn't care. At that moment, it seemed as if nothing mattered at all. His heart was shattered into millions of pieces and his life felt meaningless.

An ear ringing crash echoed as blinding lights blocked his sight. The car ricocheted off the truck that towered over him in the dark night. Glass from the car window shattered in front of him, scraping against the skin on his face. The car slammed rigorously into a tree and he blacked out.

"What happened?" The doctor shouted over the voices of the medical assistants rushing a stretcher into the emergency room.

"Young adult male, car collision, severe head injury, internal bleeding, and spinal damage." One assistant responded, helping the stretcher down the hall past nurses and patients that made way for them to get by.

The young male laid unconscious, blood trickling down from the wound on his head colouring his hair a violent shade of red, as he was raced through the hospital.

He was pushed into a room where doctors and assistants crowded around the patient. Each one of them hoped they would be able to do enough to save the poor young man from a brutal life's end. Little did they know that it was of no importance to him wether he survived or he lived to see the daylight again.

No family came that night with concern for the young boy. They'd abandoned him long ago. Completely forgetting about him, they cut off all ties.

His life hung from a single thread, clinging to a life hat he felt no concern for. The string would snap at any moment and he made no effort to stay alive, there was no reason to.

The doctors tended to his wounds and treating his injuries. They did everything they could to keep the patient from slipping away. The consistent beeps from the heart monitor gradually became life threateningly slow until the line went flat. It was too late.

The doctors removed their masks. The room went silent as they'd lost a patient. They were all sorry for the poor soul that they'd failed to preserve.

Down the hall, a certain tall man walked into the hospital to begin his shift at his new job. His aura was strong enough to reach the patient that laid almost lifeless in the emergency room.

The heart monitor regained its steady pace and beeped once again. The boy who was presumed dead twitched and took a deep breath as his heart thumped in his chest.

The new nurse made his way to the front desk, watching as everyone whispered about a rumour that flew around.

"Wen Junhui!" The man at the desk looked up at the tall male in front of him and smiled. "Welcome to your new shift. Sorry you had to switch so quickly."

"Hey, Jooheon." Jun responded, glancing around, wondering what the commotion was about. "What's everyone talking about?"

"Did you hear about the guy who's heart stopped for a whole minute, then miraculously came back to life?"

"Really?" Jun gasped. "Who is it?"

"His name was Xu Minghao."
