The 14th Martyr

"Besh gusto mo bang mabatukan, ha?" Said Ella while opening another can of beer and handing it to her.

She chuckled.

"Kulang na lang pagawan kita ng sarili mong bantayog sa Trece." Her bestfriend said and shoved foods on her mouth.

Moments of silence passed when someone suddenly knocked on the door.

She and her bestfriend looked at each other with a weird look.

It's almost 1 in the morning and who could that possibly be when it was supposed to be her and Ella's time to bond.

Her bestfriend opened the door. Halos maibuga niya ang iniinom ng makita kung sino iyon.

She stood up and approached them.

"Ly." She said.

She examined the person standing before her. Alyssa looked so exhausted. She didn't know why.

"It's late." She added.

Alyssa wasn't talking. She was just looking at her and it was weird.

"Ly, what made you come here?" Ella asked while closing the door so they turned to her.

"Mika." Alyssa finally talked and sighed.

One word. One name.

But it was enough to break her heart.

"W-what about her? I just saw your post few hours ago. I thought you guys were okay."

Truth to be told, she went to Ella's place, brought foods and beers because of Alyssa's post saying to the world how happy she was and that she was celebrating her 1st anniversary with Mika. It hurt her.

"Jerome came back."

Walang gana nitong sabi at dire diretsong pumunta sa couch at ininom na para bang isang lagok lang iyong kakabukas lang na beer ni Ella. It was hers.

And though she was giddy about the thought that that might be there first indirect kiss, Alyssa needs her so she went there and settled beside her.

Alyssa opened another before drinking it into half. She was sure her bestfriend was planning to drink it straight so she held her arm.

"Besh, wait. Tell us what happened." She said taking the can away from Aly's hand and looking at Ella who's now seated accross them. 

"He came back and basically confessed to my girlfriend that he was still inlove with her." Alyssa said and chuckled bitterly.

"And?" Ella asked the girl beside her to continue.

"And Mika feels the same."

She was taken aback with that statement. Really?! She sacrificed her own happiness and this is what Alyssa will get from Mika?!

"What? Paano mo-"

"Alam ko, Pots," Alyssa said as she looked at the ceiling to stop the tears from falling.

"Alam ko kung paano niya tingnan si Jerome. Alam ko kung paano niya tingnan from time to time ang mga social media nung ex niya with notifications on, kung paano siya ngumiti kapag napapanood niya si Jerome. Alam na alam ko."

Alyssa's shoulders shook as she sobbed and she was there to comfort her.

"At ang sakit."

Alam ko rin, Ly. She thought.

Ella looked at her with concern.

She turned to Alyssa.

Kahit na inis na inis siya ay kinalimutan niya muna dahil kailangan siya ng taong mahal niya.
