Chapter 7

It took a few days for things to return to normal. At first Luke hadn't allowed her to leave his bedroom, insisting that he sit by her side while an older pack member named Nina brought her meals. Her mature age had made her the least threatening and the only person Luke would allow upstairs. Aria thought he was being stupid but couldn't argue that weird things kept happening. Plus she thought Luke deserved some peace of mind. She felt bad for him really. He didn't deserve a mate that was seemingly plagued by strange stalkers, weird emotions, the occasional lapse of memory and oh yeah, murder.

Aria knew that Cam had been itching to ask her about it. She could hear him and Luke arguing from downstairs, Luke using his Alpha tone to order his Beta to figure it out himself. She had to restrain herself from going downstairs to defend him as her wolf vehemently disliked Cam's questioning of her mate's authority.

She would randomly feel bouts of anger and lust, Luke usually involved in one way or another. Not that he minded her lustful thoughts exactly but she was embarrassed all the same by her uncontrollable changes in emotion.

"What is happening to me?" Aria groaned, trying to force down the restless energy her wolf pushed at her. Her fingers clenched the soft white sheets while she threw her head back in annoyance. Luke leaned the bedroom door frame with his arms crossed and watched her. He smirked knowingly, and Aria felt her wolf calm slightly at the sight of his smile. Even if it was somewhat irritating.

"Put on some workout clothes." He nodding toward the wooden dresser before leaving the room. Hating that he had given her orders but having nothing better to do anyway Aria threw back the covers and pulled out an outfit. Luke had Nina bring Aria a variety of clothes when she had first arrived. She now had a selection of whatever she needed.  Putting on a pair of spandex black capris and a grey tank top Aria followed the sound of voices to the front of the lodge.

A group of men and women of different ages stood around a dirt circle in the driveway. Two men, both tall and dark haired, stood in the center of the circle in defensive positions. Aria watched with curiosity as one of them threw a punch at the other then rolled onto his back foot before aiming again at his ribs. The other man bent over and began coughing, which was a mistake, as the first man then elbowed him in the head and knocked him out. The audience didn't even flinch, simply watched.

"Like cake." The man wiped the sweat off his brow with the back of his hand and gave an easy smile. He had tan skin and broad shoulders, like he'd working outdoors all his life. He might have been attractive to her in a completely different life.

"I want you the practice using your back foot to swing and get momentum for the cross. Pair up," he ordered. As the crowed cleared Aria noticed Luke was left standing near the center. Jutting his jaw at the instructor he and the tall brunette walked toward her,

"So I had this idea" Luke began,

"No." Aria crossed her arms,

"Just hear me out"

"No."

"What are you scared?" He challenged, eyebrows raised. Who wouldn't be! She indignantly thought to herself.

"Of that?" Aria nodded at the guy who was still unconscious on the ground. "Just a bit".

"It'll clear your head, I promise" Luke replied. The instructor decided to chime in then,

"Oh. Anger Issues?"

"What's your name?" Aria snapped, whipping her head toward him

"Connor." He replied with a smile. He held his hand out toward her and she stared at it. Her eyes darted back up to his and he slowly retracted his hand back to his side,
