It was on an abnormally warm summer day that Lukas Bondevik was sitting down on a park bench near the sea shore in Denmark. The sun was angled perfectly behind a tree next to him, and a balmy breeze ruffled his blonde hair a bit. The fresh grass swayed, providing much needed relaxation for the tired Norwegian.
His dark eyes lazily scanned the green landscape around him before he crossed his hands behind his head. He was looking for a way to kill time before a meeting with other Scandinavian countries, but desperately wanted to escape spending time with the others. Lukas wasn't sure if he could stand being around Mathias for longer than he had to.
He sighed a breath of comfort and sunk deeper into his seat, legs crossed. He stared at the sky stoically with his briefcase at one side.
As if on cue, Lukas heard moving feet coming in his direction. He sat up straight, grabbing his forgotten book. As he pretended to read, a tall, tan, exotic looking girl passed him by.
Lukas normally wouldn't stare, but alas, he was but a man. He couldn't resist watching her go, a bit disappointed that she didn't speak to him. She merely stared straight ahead, with her eyes on the path that led to the beach.
Lukas sighed one more, this time in dismay, and ran a hand through his hair. He wouldn't be forgetting that sight for a while. Oh well, it wasn't like he would see her again.
The next time there was a meeting, Lukas ended up reading in the park again. He hadn't forgotten that lovely girl, and a part of him wanted to see her again.
By some miracle she walked the same path as before. Lukas opened his mouth to speak, but the nonchalant expression on her face discouraged him from doing so. Instead, he just watched her leave again, this time with a slight, slight smile.
After this, Lukas followed the same routine for every meeting he had. The others questioned him, but he didn't care. That girl was something special.
Over the course of months, Lukas had continued watching her, and even tried calling out to her. Yet she never seemed to hear him, and always kept her eyes on the distant shore. Every time his smile grew sadder.
After awhile, Lukas began to have an irrational thought.
I think I'm in love with her.
It echoed terrifyingly inside his head. Lukas knew that girl didn't care for him, yet he could not hold back his affections any longer.
It was unusual for him to act this way, as he was typically cold and stoic. But this girl did something strange to him, and it made him a bit hot under the collar.
One day when she was about to pass, Lukas did something that he himself did not see coming. Just as the girl approached him, he leapt in front of her, stopping the girl in her tracks.
Her eyes widened, and so did his.
And then she walked around him, continuing on he way to the sea.
Lukas felt as though he had been struck by an arrow.
