"What the hell do you mean Conner isn't dead? They have a whole ass murder case going on. They have a brick in the wall in his memory." I said confused. I looked at Justin, he had told me he put poison drops in his water and shot him.
Hailey looked at both of us and started laughing, "no no no, this fucker is more alive than ever." Justin finally being able to speak said, "Hail, I saw him laying there I wasn't tripping, I swear.."
"You're lil poison drops? Yeah, you probably should of read the bottle and checked when they expired. I was walking home from my cousin Danielle's house down the street from the park, and I saw him laying there. I called for help and I took his ass back to my cousins house because Danielle's a doctor. I told her to keep quiet. I found out Conner was cheating on me with Abby, and I decided it was my turn for revenge." She stopped suddenly as the door began to open.
"Justin, we apologize for all the interrogations, I hope you know it's all apart of the process. We're dropping you and Abby from the investigation, due to Hailey being your witness. Have a nice evening and get well soon Mr. Bieber" said officer Valencia as she shut the door and left.
I looked over at Hailey still confused as fuck. "Why did you cover for Justin?" I asked. Hailey started laughing again. "I'm getting there Abby" she responded.
"After Danielle practically saved Conner's life, we made him change his name & since Danielle is also a surgeon she changed his face, I was so sick of him just playing games with me I wanted him to myself. We were good for a while, but then he disappeared and I never heard from him again. Until last night, when I saw you guys at the karaoke place. I recognized you all right away, and I saw it all happen. Abby, Liam is his new name." she finished.
My mouth dropped and I started crying. I looked at Justin and he was completely quiet, pissed off looking down at his hands, cracking every knuckle.
"I had no idea what was going on, honest. That was the first time I had seen him since our last breakup, when we decided to end things." Hailey said.
"Should of just let the bastard die. Even after all these years he's still trying to take the love of my life away from me." Justin finally spoke.
Hailey sighed, "After all these years he's still chasing Abby."
I felt awkward, I felt shocked, actually, I honestly didn't know how the fuck to feel other than tired.
"So then..Conner is Liam now, and he is working in an organization where he kidnaps girls from the karaoke place" I said trying to connect the dots.
"Sex trafficking dumbass" Hailey spat, "He's involved in sex trafficking. People are so busy looking for fucking Conner, when they should be looking for Liam. I covered for Justin because we have to stop Liam. Justin was doing the right thing by trying to kill him, he would of been better off dead. We have to fix everything. He has my God damn little sister." she burst into tears.
Justin looked up again, "How the hell do we know you're not in on it too, trying to trap us."
Hailey looked him dead in the eye and said, "I swear on my life, on my mom, on everything, I am not apart of it, I need to bring my sister home. We can't tell the cops, they don't do shit, but make things worse or blame the wrong people."
"Abby, go get Becky" Justin commanded.
My heart dropped. "Oh fuck."
