The Change
If I could change what I've done,
Would I be who I am today?
A person who smiles like the sun,
And laughs her worries away.
Would I love him just the same,
With passionate restraint?
If so, what would I have to gain?
And I've lost love more than once,
Felt the warmth before the cold,
Wiped the tears from his eyes,
Played our hand before the fold.
If I had the chance to change,
I would simply stay the same,
Why challenge fate,
For the sake of making a name?
