"Nothing was different that day except that my family was acting odd, everything else seemed perfectly normal. I had just gotten off at my bus stop and was walking down the hill towards the house, when a van passed by me, stopped, and then went in reverse. And just parked itself in front of me. I ran for my life, my lungs were soon giving out with my speed, it felt as though my throat was closing up on me. I had known for a long time to never go near a van, especially if it stopped right beside you. I had stopped when I saw a little boy in there who merely looked about six years old, and yes, I could have gone to the police. But something inside me knew that by the time they found him he wouldn't be alive. So I let them capture me, I knew from the minute they tackled me down, nothing was gonna be the same again. They picked me up, blindfolded me with a greasy handkerchief, tied my wrist with rope, and then shoved me in the van. The floor was sticky, the inside smelled like excrement, alcohol, vomit, and smoke. After a long time, we came to a stop, and they picked us up, and threw us into a room. I heard whimpering and faced the direction it was coming from. "Please stop crying". Is what I said in the most sweetest voice I could muster up right now.
"Im sss...ooo...rrrrrr...y". I could tell that his first language wasn't English." My name is Alusia, what is your name?" Right at that second the door swung open, someone stepped in and untied the ropes around our wrists then took our blindfolds off. I saw a scraggly looking old man in front of me. He had deep blue eyes, a beard, some white hair with grey/black, and was extremely pale. I didn't have a good look at him until now. Then I saw another man behind him, he looked buff, but you could still tell he was in his late fifties and he had grey eyes, brown hair, and some stubble. They both wore big black sweatshirts, ripped blue jeans, and brown hiking boots. We were paralyzed, We just stared at them with fear of what would become of us. The buff man then said "Get up, and come with me to your permanent room." The old looking one gave us a glare and said "Call me Sir and him Mister." All we could do was nod to them and follow Mister to our "permanent" room. As we walked to our room we saw that the house seemed pretty small and beaten up. It barely had any furniture or decorations and the windows had bars and were covered with black curtains. But I could still see that we were in the middle of the forest. When we entered the room, it was as big as a storage closet,it only had one light bulb, small portable bed, one pillow, and one small baby blanket. "You two tomorrow will be awaken up at 5am. Also the door is bolted shut from the outside, so no way out." Mister said the last part with an ugly smirk on his face. Which left me feeling grim and with that he left and bolted the door.I looked at the boy, gave him a sad smile, and told him "Goodnight and I'll protect you.'' And with that he said his name was Leo. Then he crawled into bed and the blanket covered him perfectly. Before I turned the light off, I took a good look at the the boy. I knew he would soon become like my family. He woke up around the middle of the night screaming. I quickly covered his mouth, hugged him tight, and sang him a lullaby. We quietly fell asleep in eachothers arms. They woke us up at 5am and made me make breakfast and made the boy fix the sink since it was clearly clogged with waste. After I quickly finished breakfast, I helped him with the sink. Showed him how to do it, before they saw him. After they ate,we had to do more chores. I helped Leo learn how to do everything, we were finally allowed to go to sleep at 12 p.m. It went like this for a few months, but then they started getting more aggressive. If any time Leo messed up I would always take the blame and get hurt. This was our routine by now, and almost everyday I was hurt. Then one day in late May, I heard Sir say he was sick and tired of Leo not being able to do anything right. But by that day I had a plan, I had found a bobby pin and stuck it into the bolt so it wouldn't actually be bolted shut. When we were about to sleep I told Leo my plan of getting out of this place. We waited for 3 hours until we heard the footsteps get farther away and their doors close.
Our escape plan was in action now, I pushed the door very carefully not to make a squeak. The door opened and we exited, I headed towards the kitchen drawer that had the flashlight and paper pin that I needed. I learned how to pick a lock when I locked the bathroom door by accident. We treaded carefully to the back door that had three locks. I unlock them and opened the door gently. It was oddly chilly for late May this night, I handed my light sweater I had from the day I was taken and told him to put it on. I had loved the cool chilly air, so I was fine with just my shirt. The sweater fit him a bit baggy but still good. I pointed the flashlight to the forest and we headed that way. The sun was starting to rise and we finally saw the highway. We followed the highway for an hour or so, when we saw the same van over ahead parked on the side of road, on the exact same side we were on. I froze, I didn't know how to react to this. Then Leo said he heard something. That's when I stopped and heard footsteps getting closer, closer, and closer. We sprinted toward the van, and then headed into the forest. I hurt my leg, but climbed a tree with Leo somehow. I could see how terrified he was, I hugged him and covered his mouth. Then we heard the footsteps approaching us until we finally heard them under us. There was no sound only the sound of nature and cars. "Lets just leave we can find others." The hairs on my neck stood up when Mister said that.
