Accidental Outing

Yamaguchi has a crush on Tsukki, and he accidentally
outs himself to Hinata, who tries to help him make a move.

One could definitely tell spring was around the corner. The days were getting warmer, the smell of fresh rain in the air, and buds were beginning to bloom on the cherry trees. This particular day was the epitome of perfection; clear, blue skies, warm temperature, the scent of blooming flowers, a light breeze... A perfect day to sit outside and soak in the sun.

"Yamaguchi!"

Yamaguchi whipped around at the sound of his name being called, only to see a bright orange ball of energy barreling towards him. He stumbled as Hinata crashed into him and began squeezing his waist. With a small laugh he wrapped his arms around Hinata's shoulders, returning the hug.

"I'm glad you could make it today, Hinata." Yamaguchi inquired as he released the grip from the shorter's shoulders. Hinata looked up at him with a grin.

"Of course! We haven't hung out like this since the beginning of the year. Plus it's a beautiful day!" Hinata said cheerfully. Yamaguchi nodded and led him over to a table outside of his favorite corner café. It sat two people, with yellow cushions on the chairs, and it was complete with an umbrella attached to the table. They both sat down and a waitress came to take their food and drink orders. While they waited, they made small talk.

"I can't believe the Spring Prelims are right around the corner! We're gonna kick ass and take names!" Hinata exclaimed with a determined gleam in his eyes. Yamaguchi just laughed.

"Well, well. Someone seems excited."

"You're not?"

"More like nervous."

"About losing?"

"About not being good enough..." Yamaguchi said quietly. He looked away and bit his lip. "Nah, forget it." Hinata frowned at this.

"If you weren't good enough, you wouldn't be on the team. You've been working really hard on your serves and your determination is really paying off! If you don't believe me then ask Tsukishima, I know you'll listen to him better than me." Hinata tried to console him, hoping he took the words to heart.

Yamaguchi blushed.

They were interrupted as the waitress brought their orders to them.

"Strawberry-banana smoothie and a croissant?" Hinata raised his hand and she put his food down in front of him. "And an iced french vanilla coffee and a chocolate chip muffin." She placed the remaining items in front of Yamaguchi. "Enjoy!" she exclaimed and walked away, a pep in her step.

Both boys started to dig in, marveling in how good both the food and refreshments were. Hinata decided to try and lighten the mood again.

"Hey, wanna hear something I read online? It's probably not true though, because i read it on a sketchy website. But I think it would be fun to hear your guess as to who it is." Hinata asked, taking a sip of his smoothie afterwards.

"Yeah, sure." Yamaguchi replied while raising his brow. Hinata swallowed and then blurted it out.

"I read that one in ten people are gay, so that means at least one of us on the team has to be gay!"

"I hope it's Tsukki." Yamaguchi deadpanned, without thinking.

The spiker froze and dropped his croissant. His eyes almost bulged out of his head.
