Tianna's Story
You know those days where you just feel like something bad is going to happen? I've had this feeling in the pit of my stomach all day. My mind is everywhere. I caught myself zoning out, getting lost in my own thoughts as I was driving home. Luckily I snapped out of it in time before running off the road. My phone rang; it was my best friend.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey T." he replied.
"What's up?"
"I'm just checking on you. Everything okay?" you could hear the worry in his voice.
"Yeah Kwon, I think so. I just have this feeling like some shit is gonna happen today. I'm just trying to get home. Will you come over? I'm just not feeling right."
"You know I got you best friend." I could hear him smiling through the phone.
"I know you do. You always do."
I was only a couple blocks from home. Kwon only lived about ten minutes away from me.
"Well let me get my shit together and I'll be on my way to you."
"Alright, I'll see you-"
I didn't even get to finish my sentence before I got side swiped. I was jolted in so many different directions and my head slammed against the dashboard.
"T? T? T? What's going on?!" Kwon's words were the last thing I remember before I blacked out.
Kwon's Story
So many things were running through my mind. What the hell was going on?! I immediately stopped what I was doing, grabbed my keys and ran out to my car. I have to make sure Tianna is okay. I reversed out of the driveway and sped up the road. I tried calling and calling Tianna's phone but I couldn't get a hold of her. My heart started racing. I just hope everything is okay. I started hearing sirens before I could see them. My heart just sank in my chest. Please let Tianna be okay. I turned right at the stop sign and started driving down the familiar road towards my best friend's house. I saw the ambulances, the fire truck, and police cars. Everything seemed to start moving in slow motion. At the intersection ahead, I could see Tianna's car, a red 2017 Honda Accord, in a twisted mess. The driver's side was smashed in, the front bumper barely hanging on. The vehicle that hit her was at least twice the size of her car. That vehicle wasn't important to me anymore. I slammed on the breaks in the middle of the road, yanked the gear shift into park and scrambled out of my car. I took off on foot up the street.
"TIANNA!!!!!!" I yelled as I ran with tears in my eyes. "T!!!!" I started getting choked up.
The guys in the ambulance hopped out to her rescue. They couldn't get to her from the drivers side, so they were coming to the passenger's side. A woman stumbled out of the vehicle that hit her, she seemed fine other than a few cuts and bruises along her forehead. I got angry looking at this woman, not knowing what condition T was in. The closer I got the more I felt myself losing it. Tianna was slumped over to the right of the steering wheel. There was blood everywhere. She wasn't moving. I ran faster until I was standing a few feet from her car. I couldn't force myself to move any closer, I just sank to my knees. This could not be happening. The paramedics freed her from the car and laid her out on the stretcher. Her body was so limp. My heart ached. Please be okay T. Please be okay. I just sat there stuck, watching them help my best friend and watching a few police officers search through her car and wreckage to find some type of information or identification in her car.
"There's a pulse." I overheard one of the paramedics say to the other.
"I wonder what her name is. Anybody find anything yet?"
