Set the scene. It's that time of year again. When the year seems to pick up its feet and sprint towards freedom.
Everything in school has been kicked up a notch. Useless projects, essays, formulas, and exams are starting to pile up again.
It's April. April 20th or 21st depending on where you live. And two months from my birthday. (A/N: Okay, you guys can ignore that. But it's true. Ignore me, though. I'm not supposed to be narrating this, but I just wanted to add that. Sorry, not sorry.)
It's also the perfect time for a little escape from the pressure and the expectations. The perfect time for a little bit of horror...
Or maybe humour. I guess it's all up to you to decide.
So... Set the scene.
You are in the stereotypical setting of any haunted house story. An old, abandoned, decrepit, and haunted house.
For whatever reason, you decide to enter the house. Perhaps your brain was fried from the excessive overuse from reading.
Maybe you were in search of food and the smell of burnt flesh was attractive to you. Maybe you love the excitement of scaring the fondue out of yourself.
Who knows. But for some inexplicable reason, you decide to enter the house, like a naïve little victim in a horror movie.
The minute you open the door, you hear an extremely eerie song. Much like... the sound of one straining their voice to sing an octave higher than they actually can.
Very eerie. You listen carefully and notice that there are three voices all singing in unison.
They seem to be singing "Ring around the Rosie" and asking you to play with them.
Very normal for a horror story (think "The Shining"), right? You look up, expecting to see three pale, doll-like, little girls standing at the other side of the room...
You could not be more wrong. Instead, three burly, tanned, and huge, old men are standing across from you, singing their hearts out.
You scream and back up. Something screeches behind you.
You turn and see a large mirror where the door was. You are shown in the mirror. The screech you heard was a reflection of your scream.
Mirror you notices your stare, giggles, whispers to your special someone who has somehow appeared in the mirror beside you, and winks.
"They're coming for you..." they say, "Soon, very soon, they'll be here. Your worst nightmare."
Startled, you run towards a side door that just happened to appear at that moment.
Into a the hallway, miraculously through a door, and into yet another room, you stumble.
Something red turns, and...
The cutest kitten you have ever seen is now facing you. Around its body lay numerous carcasses of various other extremely cute animals. Puppies, kittens, bunnies, platypus, pandas, penguins, snakes, and even raccoons.
Then, it speaks to you, in the deepest and scratchiest voice that you have ever heard. It says, "Will you play with me? As you can see, all my other toys are all broken."
"They weren't ANY fun. They broke after only a minute or two."
"Will you play this game now? Even though all the others are coming after you, now? Yes, the ones that haunt your life, and the ones you have never even imagined."
As if they were cued, you suddenly hear a cacophony of footsteps, screeches, and cackles.
How will you escape this nightmare?
