Let there be music

Griffin asks his mother if he is allowed to make some music. "Only to entertain our guests and to practice for yourself." she replies. "I know. No periscope." he replies. Kimberly smiles. "Let's go to the music room." Griffin says. Me, Tanner and Griffin walk to the music room. "Any requests?" Griffin asks. "You play whatever you want. You know with which artists you can make me happy." I respond. "With Griffin Tucker." Tanner responds. "Among others." is my response. "Didn't know Griffin played my songs too." Tanner says. "No, I don't. But Remko loves The Beatles, just like me." Griffin responds. "Yes. Griffin knows it." I say. "But Griffin has done covers from other artists. I like most of them too." I say. "I'm going to start with a song by a band Remko surely will know, but not the Beatles. They are from the same country and the singer of the band doesn't live anymore." Griffin says. Tanner looks puzzled. "Why do I get the feeling Tanner doesn't know which band you've picked?" I say. "You do know which band he picked with that vague description?" Tanner says. "Oh yeah. It's easy. The Beatles are British and I only can think of one band besides The Beatles of which the singer has died. And that's Queen." I say. "How can you know that so fast?" Tanner asks. "Easy, I know which bands Griffin likes to cover. And I know Queen and I know Freddie died before you both were born as a result of AIDS." I respond to Tanner. "That explains a lot. You're well informed." Tanner says. "I like to remember these kind of things." I respond. "Any Queen requests?" Griffin interrupts our chitchat. "You do the choosing. If I would choose, I would pick songs you would need a band for. Which is no problem if you record a song, because you can play the instruments one by one yourself, but for a live performance that will be a problem" I answer Griffin's question. Griffin then picks a song himself and at the end he gets a standing ovation from me, Tanner, Clayton, Kimberly, Bryan and Dylan. As he true artist he takes a bow to thank his audience. "Next song, I'm not telling the band. I'm only telling it's about a specific type of bird that has no colour." says Griffin. "I give up on guessing. This one is too hard too." Tanner says. "Hard? Not at all. It's Black bird by The Beatles." I say. Clayton laughs. "Is he right again?" Tanner asks his dad. "Yes he is." Griffin responds.

After Griffin's finished, I "complain" to Griffin: "That wasn't just Black Bird. That was a medley of Black Bird and Yesterday". "Can't fool you when it comes to The Beatles." he responds. "One more song and then it's time to quit making music for today. You've got enough music and singing to do the next few days." Kimberly says. "Dad, help me here." Griffin says to his dad. "You think I can convince your mother to allow you to play longer? You forget who your ICOAE is." Bryan responds. "Last time I checked that was still mom and not dad." Dylan responds too. "What's the reason you want Griffin to quit? Is it to safe his voice or that it's time to go to bed?" I ask Kimberly. "It's to make sure he doesn't overuses his voice." she responds. "If Tanner does a few songs, can Griffin then do one or two more songs? I think by then we've had a great show and it's time for the boys to take a rest or maybe even to go to bed." I say to Kimberly. Tanner looks with big eyes meaning he likes the idea. "It's okay by me if Tanner doesn't too much songs either." Clayton says. "Okay. Since you insist and you are the one that arranged everything, it's okay. But after that it's really over for today. No more extensions then." she says. "That's a deal." I say. Griffin and Tanner agree with Kimberly's plan as well. "Thank you for helping Remko. You rock." Griffin says. "What he said." Tanner adds. "To don't overdo your voice I suggest you do Who To Be on the piano. Then Tanner does 3 a capella songs and then you do 2 more songs, you can pick, but no songs that demand a lot of your voice." I say to Griffin. "I actually wanted to do Some Kind Of Love Song, but if you want me to do Who To Be, I'll do that one." Griffin says. "Maybe you can save Some Kind Of Love Song for the second round." I say. Griffin sits down behind his keyboard and starts playing Who To Be.
