Zach and his friends sat in a classroom. Their town was cursed. Only 100 high school kids are still alive, including Zach. They had no source of light what-so ever. Many people were cuddled in a small ball. They heard a window creak, and Zach thought he heard someone fainted. But, nobody went up to close it, because they were too scared. Zach tried to stand up, but someone from behind pulled him back down.

"Zach, you know our town is cursed, right?" the guy from behind said.

"Yes Michael, I know it is. But I'm tired of just sitting around in fear. Our town is cursed, meaning there must be a way to lift the curse." said Zach. He didn't give any time for Michael to respond. He stood up and walked towards the window. Zach looked behind him and saw many peoples eyes open wide. Zach closed the window and remained standing.

"You are crazy!" someone said.

"You're going to get yourself killed!" said another.

"You're so lucky you're still alive!"

"Yeah yeah, whatever. I'm tired of sitting around just 'hoping' that the curse will lift. You guys are just chicken heads. The curse won't lift itself, I'm going to lift it even if I have to do it by myself." Zach said rolling his eyes.

"FINALLY! Someone has some sense!" said a voice. The person that said that stood up next to Zach.

"That's it, I'm going out." Zack opened the door and left. The guy followed him. "Thanks bro, I thought I was the only person that wasn't chickened out at all and would only go."

"No problem. Besides, I was hoping someone would say that."

"What's your name? I'm Zach."

"The name's Chris." said Chris. A cold breeze whooshed by, and gave an eerie sound, as if it was trying to whisper something to them. Zach shivered a bit, but he didn't hesitate and kept walking. They left their school without a sound, and walked on the sidewalk. Zack looked across the outskirts of their school. He could barely see anything, but he could see it perfectly. Cars were flipped over, leaves rolled across the ground, owls hooted, crows croaked, concrete was scattered across the area, and the sidewalk was cracked.

"Wow, I didn't know that it was this bad out here." Zach said, still shivering.

"Neither did I. I mean, I didn't expect to be in perfect shape, but this, this is just devastating" said Chris. They both continued to walk across the sidewalk. They took a few turns here and there because either a tree, care, or crumpled concrete was blocking the way. Or, a building fell, making it so it is impossible for them to pass by. "Hey Zach." Chris asked.

"What?" Zach said half-asleep.

"Is it just me, or does that building lit up?" Chris asked, pointing up. Zach looked up to see white shining through the windows. "Let's go!" Chris said and ran through the door of the building before Zack could respond. When Zack caught up with Chris, there were stairs going up. Zack dashed up the stairs followed by Chris.

"Wait!" Chris yelled panting. He went into the room closest to him, and Zach came in.

"What, you're tired already?!" Zach bellowed.

"Yes, I am. But, also, doesn't this seem too easy? It's as if whatever's up there knows we are coming." Chris said with his voice shattering.

"Ok, that is true, but it's been a whole year since the curse, and nobody didn't come here at all!" Zach said.

"Fine, but don't blame me if something goes wrong." Chris muttered.

"Whatever" Zach said and continued to dash up the stairs. Zach creeped towards the door that had light shining out. Chris bumped into Zach, making him fall forward. Luckily, the door only creaked open, and it didn't make a horrifying entrance. Zach slapped him in the face and peered in.

"Those kids are the only ones that are actually capable of lifting the curse that fell upon them, but it's not like I care. It's been a whole year since the cursed and none of them ever left the school. Not even one! They would never come up here!" said a cackling voice.

"Told you Chris!" Zach whispered quietly, nudging Chris, then peering back in.

"I'm going to chase all of those kids out of the school, possibly even kill some if I have to, and see how long they can survive." the voice said, continuing to cackle. Zach saw a title of a book, saying: How to use the curse, The Unexpected.

"Chris! Look at that book! That's how we got cursed!" Zach said. When he looked back at Chris, he had a terrified look on his face. Zach gave Chris a nudge. Chris fell into the wall with a very loud bang. They gave each other one glance, and they both scrambled up and darted down the stairs, they went into a room six floors down furthest away from the stairs.

"What was that for?! We could have been seen!" Chris whispered loudly.

"You're saying this is my fault?! You were the one that banged into the wall!"

"Well that wouldn't have happened if SOMEONE didn't shove me!" They continued to argue for a bit until they heard a stomp. They whirled around to see nothing at the door.

"Chris, what was that?" Zach stuttered.

"I have no idea" Chris stuttered. They felt water drip on their head.

"Was that water?" Zach asked. When he looked to his left, Chris was gone. "Chris?!?!" Zach asked again, this time a little louder.

"Run!" Zach barely heard. Zach felt more water fall onto his head. He looked up, only to realize that it wasn't water. It was drool. He didn't really get a good glimpse of what he saw, but he still ran. Zach ran as fast as he and down the stairs. He heard the growls of whatever that thing was falling down the stairs.

"Hurry Zach!" he heard Chris scream. Zach skipped a step and fell down the stairs. The thing stepped on to him twice. It was very heavy, and his legs fell off. Zach felt intense pain, and his eyes stayed shut. His eyes were streaming with tears from all the pain, until at the point when he started shrieking. He opened his eyes to see Chris at the bottom of the stairs, blood trying to reach him. He saw his leg that popped off go into the air.

Zach looked up. The thing was very big, and ate off his leg. It drew closer.

"NOOO!!!" Zach begged for mercy. But, it was too late. Whatever that thing was, was face to face. Zach's face was drenched with drool, and Zach closed his eyes.

Chris watched whatever that thing was eat Zach in 2 swift bites. In that time Zach was gone. Zach was dead.
