"Ms. Black?" Someone pokes my shoulder. I peel my eyes open.

Standing beside me is a nurse with straight red hair. I rub my eyes as I sit up.

"Yeah?" I yawn, sliding off the bed and fixing the covers around Jacob. His eyes tightly closed. A small stumble covering his face. I glance over to the nurse.

"Dr. Hibbett is here to do his daily checkup." She pulls her lips into a small smile. I rub my eyes as I droop back over to the same chair I've sat in for a week now.

I watch as the tall doctor enters the room. "Hmm, how are we today?" He asks, pulling a small chair up.

I shrug before crossing my arms. Oh what I'd do for some food right now.

Dr. Hibbett does the usual. Checks the heartbeat, blood pressure, and what not.

"Jacob's blood pressure is still a little lower than normal." He stands from the chair, flattening out his large white coat.

"I expect in about two weeks, give or take, it will be up to normal. I'm assuming he hasn't woken up yet?" He writes something on his clipboard.

Two weeks? Great, now I get to sit in a hospital for two more weeks waiting for some los-

"Ms. Black?" Dr. Hibbett snaps me back to reality. "Oh. Uh, yeah. He still hasn't woke up yet." I shake my head before the tears start to fall.

"I'm sorry, Doctor.. Doctor Hibb-" "Yes?" He asks, tucking something into his coat pocket.

"Why hasn't he woke up?" I ask, pleading with my eyes. For nearly a week now I have been at the hospital. Matt has forced me to go to his place to take a shower and get a change a clothes a couple times but I want to be here when Jacob wakes up.

"Ms. Black. When Jacob was shot it nearly destroyed his muscle. It sent his body into extreme shock. This mimics a-" "A coma." I mumble. I glance from the doctor to Jacob.

"I do have very good news though." He starts, shifting in his seat. "While you were in the cafeteria last night we tested Jacob's brain activity. It's normal. It's perfect to be honest." My heart sinks, but in a good way.

I feel my blood rushing through my veins as I take in the exciting news. "He is to wake up soon." Doctor Hibbett says as he stands up.

I stand up, quickly throwing my arms around the doctor. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." I whisper as I clasp onto his tall frame.

"Ms. Black, will you please let me go?" He laughs. I step back, running my hands through my long hair. "I'm sorry, I'm just so happy." I sigh.

"Yes, well-" "Jacob had a visitor." The red headed nurse interrupts him. He looks over his shoulder and nods.

"I'll be back to check on him later today." Doctor Hibbett turns around and walks past the short nurse. He nods to the visitor outside before disappearing.

The short nurse steps aside and Matt enters my view.

He whispers something to the nurse and she walks out of the room.

"Has he woke up yet?" Matt strides across the room towards me. I sit back down in the chair.

"No." I say looking across the room at Jacob. I meet Matt's eyes and he gives me a look of worry.

"What?" I say, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "You need to go home." Matt says. "I don't have a home anymore." I cross my arms. A loud sigh emits from Matt's mouth.
