Namjoon's sudden call-in had already got him annoyed, let alone the rain and pretty much empty store which he had been imagining to be busy, by the way his boss sounded like he was rushing around.
Only a few people were coming in, making a mess of the clothes and then leaving. Of course Namjoon had to greet them, tidy the piles of fabric, and then act pleasant as they left without buying anything- he really just wished someone else would for once cover his shift."H-hi..." A small and shy voice rang out quietly behind Namjoon as he hung up a jacket and replaced it back onto the shelf. He turned, expecting a small child who had lost his family.
"Um... c-can you show me where the b-blankets are please..?" Jin was fiddling with the bottom of his purple sweater as if he had never met Namjoon before.
"Oh hey! Yeah let's go!" Namjoon was more than thankful to see the older man and take him to get things for his "younger family". Of course, he didn't know that the sippy cups, pacis, stuffies, onesies and now blankets went into a little pink and mint box beneath Jin's bed. They ended up, like last time, spending most of the morning walking round the store, even in the women's section- not like either of them noticed due to them both being deep in conversation about ridiculous things that wouldn't matter when they left the store. Namjoon insisted on paying for Jin's things, and walking him back to his small apartment. The weather was nicer than when Namjoon walked to work, so he definitely didn't mind the extra 10 minutes with the older male.
"Thanks for paying..."
"My pleasure."
"And for picking out a blanket..."
"Anytime."
"And walking me home..."
"If I have to say one more polite response I'll cry." They both laughed, walking up the stairs of Jin's building to find his door- number 36.
"Would you uh... like some coffee?" Seokjin wasn't always awkward. He was usually confident and self assured. But when Namjoon told him he'd love a cup, he immediately became anxious and had to calm himself down because, really, there wasn't anything that could have gone wrong- hopefully.
