-H.R, out

I saw her eyes widen with surprise. That's right, i wanted her to rise, high above the mountains, strong like the colours of the sunset which glowed brighter than happiness. I didn't need any money to feel the delight I felt earlier, I just wanted to make this world a better place for someone. That had been my dream ever since I was a child.

"R-rise?" She questioned, words barely managing to escape her throat, suffocated with confusion and shock.

As i nodded, the girl's gaze shifted to look at the door behind me. My boss. Hurriedly, I grabbed my bags and stood up, frantically brushing down my crumpled uniform. He was looking very fatigued, which made me realise how late it was getting.

Turning to say goodbye to my new friend, a sudden realisation hit me. I knew what the first step was to make her successful.

"Give these tablets to your mother once every morning and once in the evening," I began, rattling the box of medicine. She nodded gratefully and flashed her small smile. It was time to tell her my plan...

"Every morning, expect a tutor to come here. Don't worry about the fees, I've got it covered."

Before I could see her reaction, I spun on my heels and followed my boss out through the unstable doors, feeling a wide smile spread across my face. The cool breeze of the serene, calm night brushed past the hot, merciless day as I made my way towards my car. Suddenly, a small voice piped up from the distance.

"THANK YOU!"

Chuckling quietly to myself, flashbacks of my childhood memories which I had locked away, came flooding back into my mind. I was just like her. Tough and strong on the outside, yet broken and lost inside, with nowhere to go and escape from the painful reality.

My parents were killed before my eyes because they didn't have enough money to pay off the loans that burdened them like the dark clouds that constantly followed me. The 2 children they left behind became homeless, stealing from stalls when the pangs of hunger became unbearable. Until my older sister fell seriously ill, and my attempts of stealing medicine became futile...

I was left in my own world of solitude, barely hanging onto life...

"See you tomorrow Ava," My bosses worried voice brought me back from my drifting thoughts, he knew exactly what I was thinking about. I smiled reassuringly and nodded as he ruffled my hair and whispered something in my ear.

"You did well today, I'm proud of you..."

Smacking his hand away from my head, I made a face at him, just like the old times.

"James, I'm NOT a dog!"

The scowls immediately softened as we both burst out laughing, provoking tears to fall out of his eyes. As he wiped them away, his face quickly returned back to his serious expression. Despite the stiffness of his face, the corner of his mouth signified a small grin.

"You haven't changed," his small grin broke into a full smile. "You saved me from regret, once again."

"I know you wanted to give them the medicine, it's not your fault..." I softly returned, soft like the snow which fell and dissolved gracefully in the arctic winter.

"Thank you," I could hear his voice quiver, thick with tears. Thick enough to get sliced by a sharp blade.

Automatically, I felt my arms wrap around him in a friendly hug, comforting him from his long day, warm tears soaking the shoulder of my shirt. It took me back to my flowing memories, where he used to be the centre of my universe. He still was and will always be.

Without another word, he wiped his shining eyes and turned towards the door, gently closing it as he exited. The moon shone onto the splints of glass, accompanied by the clusters of stars which shimmered just as bright. No one was alone, because even the sun had the clouds during the day...

BEEP! BEEP!

5 A.M. Another day had begun. Morning has overcome the darkness. Staggering out of the comfort, I checked my calendar. The tutor.

All at once, my tiredness left me, filling me with energy. I had booked a tutor the minute I stepped foot into my house, excited to see my dream finally getting fulfilled. Collecting the empty exercise books and stationary, I quickly drove to the girl's home before I could do anything else and delivered the essentials to a beaming face, dropping into a nervous glance when I handed them over. Before she could take her shaking hand away, I grabbed hold of it, draining all of the anxiety that was to be left inside of her.

Her eyes slowly began to ignite with passion and determination. I knew she could do it. I believed in her...
