Mi-Jung entered the chatroom late that night and talked with the RFA. Then Ray entered around 1 or 2 AM.
Mi-Jung. He typed. Are you mad?
She replied with ellipses.
Okay. Fine. That's understandable.
What the hell is going on Ray? That man said he was V.
He was a sick man we are treating here. He believes himself to be the AI, V.
But he was so much like the V I saw on the game. It doesn't fucking add up.
I just told you, he's not well he only believes himself to be—
Ray paused in his text.
No, okay, no more lies. That man was V, the one from the game.
I fucking knew it.
No! But V isn't a good person even so! You should be wary of him, Mi-Jung.
I will be wary of all things from now on.
You seem mad. I'm sorry for lying. I should have told you the truth.
Mi-Jung felt a pang of pity. This boy was sweet and had grown on her after all. She typed.
Listen, Ray, maybe there's a happy ending to all of this. Take care of yourself, I'm going to bed now.
Thank you Mi-Jung. You too.
He sent a smiling emoji before leaving the chat room.
She turned off her phone and then let sleep overtake her.
....
The next day, Ray was at her door in the early afternoon.
"Mi-Jung." He said as he politely knocked.
"What?" She replied groggily, having just woken up from a brief nap.
"Someone wants to meet you."
"Why should I bother to meet them when you've lied to me all this time? It could be another lie."
"It's my important guest, she wishes to meet you. I know, and she knows, that you are curious of everything." He said.
Mi-Jung rubbed her eyes and sighed. What should she do? This guest might be able to answer her questions, but then again it could be an attempt to get her to drink that elixir.
"Can you promise me that this is a real meeting? That I am not going to be harmed whatsoever?" She asked.
"Of course, Mi-Jung." He replied instantly. At least she had his word, as he did seem to care deeply for her.
"I will come with you to meet her then. But if I even suspect something else is going on..." She trailed off to let him think of the consequences.
"Of course." Mi-Jung took a little satisfaction in the fear that trembled his voice, but that was outweighed by the pang of guilt.
...
Ray had taken the girl to meet his "very important guest", whoever that was. She was blindfolded again and lead down the corridors and into a room.
"Remove her blindfold." A female voice commanded.
"Yes, Savior."
A chill ran down Mi-Jung's spine. Savior? The blindfold was removed. They were in a large room lavishly decorated.
A blonde woman in a black dress and mask stood before her. Mi-Jung dwarfed her by several inches, but the energy this woman gave off made her feel small.
"I'm sure you can take better care of her than me." Ray said. He looked sad as he said this.
"You may leave." She dismissed Ray.
"I hope you have fun with her." He squeezed Mi-Jung's shoulders and left.
The women were now alone. A silence pulsated on her ears.
"Mi-Jung Hwang." The girl held out her hand. "I... It's a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is all mine." The Savior said, accepting her hand. "You have beautiful eyes."
"Thank you?" Mi-Jung said. The Savior seemed to sense her tenseness.
"Don't be worried, my dear. I think we'll get along just well."
"I'm not worried about that." She could feel her brash attitude returning. "It's just..." She couldn't find the right words that were not filled with an obscene amount of swearing.
The Savior guided her to a sliding door.
"We have a closet here, if you'd like to change." She said, opening the door to reveal a room that could fit at most five grown men inside.
"What? Uh... sure..." Mi-Jung said, her eyes sliding over the room. Pants and shirts along the right wall of racks, a dresser on the opposite, a mirror dead ahead. Everything was quite lavish.
"You just might want to change. That's all I'm saying. After all you've worn the same outfit for days." Unconsciously Mi-Jung clutched at her jacket.
"Don't worry." The Savior smiled at her and her heart did a small backflip. "You can keep the jacket, it's clearly of sentimental value to you."
Mi-Jung tried on several different outfits in the closet before she decided on one.
Her new outfit consisted of a pink v neck crop top, jeans, and her hair tied back.
"You look very pretty." The Savior said.
"Thank you." She said, straightening her wrist watch.
Mi-Jung was shocked to then discover the blonde woman clasping her arms around her waist, pressing her body into Mi-Jung's. She was hyper aware of it all now, the pressure of her hands, the hair tickling her neck, her warm breath, and the fact that her chest was pushing into the small of her back.
"Would you like accompany me on a walk?" She asked softly in her ear.
"W-What?" Mi-Jung stammered, her cheeks flushed with pink.
"Come now. We'll be in the gardens. Ray took you there, did he not?" The Savior asked, her lips mere centimeters from Mi-Jung's ear.
"I..." She started shakily. Why was her voice so shaky? Was it the woman's aura? Was it her beauty? Or was it the invasion of personal space? She cleared her throat and removed herself from The Savior's grasp. "He did take me. It was lovely."
"Well, let's go, you and I. Girl to girl talk."
Mi-Jung nodded and felt herself being led out by The Savior.
...
In the gardens both women walked around, it was dusk. The sky was a purple blue above them.
"I guess you have many questions." The Savior said, several steps ahead of the girl. "I am willing to answer them."
"Who are you? What is this place? Why does it exist? Why am I here? What's the point of it all?" Spilled from Mi-Jung's lips.
"I am The Savior, later, once I begin to trust you, I will tell you who lays behind this mask. This place is Magenta, and we make people who are ill better, those who need love, those who need help, they are all helped here." The woman replied. She did not answer the question about why Mi-Jung was here, which worried her.
"It's a lovely night. Let's sit and just talk about things that aren't related to recent events." She said, gesturing to a bench just off the path.
They sat down.
"You have no idea how wonderful it is to speak with another girl casually. I've missed that." Mi-Jung was unsure how to reply. The Savior's green eyes were gazing into the sky.
"Surely you have other women in that place?" She said slowly.
"There are, but they take their positions very seriously, and only refer to me the way one would their boss." The Savior sighed. Pity overwhelmed Mi-Jung, she patted The Savior's shoulder.
"Well, it's getting dark, we should perhaps go inside again?" Mi-Jung said. The blonde woman nodded.
"Let's go." She said. They returned to the building
