Enlightened

Chapter One: Until Then

"Hands on your head! Now!"

The criminal stops running and puts his hands up when he hears the gun hammer cock back.  

"That's right, don't move."  Toni says as she walks toward the lawbreaker.  

Toni Topaz.  The youngest Sheriff Riverdale has ever seen at 23, the most confident girl in the small city and one of the most beautiful.  She's every girl's dream.  A self sustaining, child loving, responsible gentlewoman.  Not to mention, she's extremely ripped; and everyone knows a good six pack turns every girl on.

After Hermione Lodge won the mayoral election seven years ago and stayed in office for six years until her daughter Veronica took over last year, the prison was built.  Along with a newer, bigger police department.  After graduating high school, she began police training immediately.  After 16 months of training, she graduated onto the force.  Within the next 3 months she became Deputy Sheriff and after Tom Keller's retirement two years ago, Toni was promoted to Sheriff at only 21.

"Ooh a ski mask, old school are we?  I haven't seen anyone commit a crime in a ski mask since the Black Hood.  Bravo my fair felon."  The Canadian said as she slapped a pair of handcuffs on the mystery criminal.  "Now, shall we find out who our mystery man is?"  

Toni flipped the criminal against the wall and removed his mask.  

"Sweet Pea?"  Toni asked, exasperated.

"Hey Toni."  He replied with a small smirk.

"I thought I told you to stay out of trouble?"  Toni said cracking a smile and hitting Sweet Pea on the shoulder.

"I guess I never really listened to you anyways."  Sweet Pea replied smiling back.

"Alright loser, let's get you back to the station."  Toni said grabbing Sweet Pea by the back of his shirt and walking him back to her car.

"Oh come on, I don't get the "Old Friend" getaway?"  Sweet Pea said laying on an innocent voice.

"If I let go every criminal I knew in high school I wouldn't be sheriff now would I Sweet Pea?"  Toni said , her voice dripping in sarcasm.  

"Fair enough."  Sweet Pea responded, shaking his head.

They got back to the car and Toni loaded him into the back seat.  "Just the other week I caught Tall Boy trying to break into the Register in broad daylight.  He never was a smart one."

For the ride back to the station the two old friends sat in a comfortable silence.  When they arrived, Toni took Sweet Pea out of the car and brought him through the front door.

The first thing she was greeted with was Cheryl Blossom's smiling face and bright red lipstick.  Cheryl Blossom was much like Toni as she also went to working for the police department right out of high school.  But not on the force, she's the department secretary.  The best secretary on the face of the planet according to the entire force.  The 21 year old red head was the most organized, positive person besides the Sheriff herself.  She never ceased to have a smile on her face.  

Despite the two year age gap, the two of them actually graduated at the same time.  With Cheryl skipping the seventh grade and Toni failing the tenth, they ended up in the same grade.  They never really spoke much as Toni was seen as a delinquent and Cheryl the exact opposite. Although, there was that one time at Veronica's party in twelfth grade... but we won't go into detail about that.

"Hello Ms. Topaz, oh and is that Sweet Pea."  Cheryl said as the two walked in the front door of the station. 

"Correct Ms. Blossom.  It is Sweet Pea."  She said, returning Cheryl's glorious smile.  "Hey Fangs, could you bring our heinous criminal to his cell please."
