Two hundred years ago, there was a war. This war ended all the states and cities in the world, at least that is what they tell us. They tell us that we are the only ones left, so we should be thankful for our city. However, there is this wall on the outskirts of this place. If we are the only humanity left, then why is there a wall? If we are the only ones left there would not be a wall.
I am Parker Rose and I am skeptical of the system. Our government has decided to take all the decisions and strong emotions out of the picture. The only thing they don't have control over is who we love. However, if it were up to them they would decide that too. We are a city run under the one and only President John Tucker, the creator of this system. President Tucker said there is a wall here to keep us separate from the damage the war caused, but it just doesn't make sense. Cameron Pierson is my... well, it's complicated. We share the same thoughts on this society, however, it is all we have ever known, so to betray it and be wrong would basically be a crime. Keeping the peace has started to become challenging due to changing beliefs politically. Government officials have started roaming around more to try and catch people who think differently. They can try to catch them, however, they will never catch everyone.
At school, our teachers teach about the greatness of this system. Contrary to popular belief I don't think they believe anything they teach. They lack emotion and are very monotone. My best friend Stephanie Meyers and I make fun of every teacher we have ever had. Friday morning in class though something weird happened, it was as if Mr. Martin was in some sort of trance.
"Hello children, today we are going to learn about what is really wrong with society." Mr. Martin says in a monotone voice.
I question, "Mr. Martin is something wrong?" However, he didn't answer and just started speaking again.
"The government is not what you think go beyond..." Mr. Martin stops talking before he can finish his sentence and suddenly is talking with his normal life and emotion again, "Sorry class, back to today's lesson."
I turn to Cameron and exclaim, "That was so weird! I'm going to tell Stephanie about this when I get home. We are gonna do some research."
"I will tell Tyler and I'll call you later," He then turns around and goes back to the lesson.
Tyler is Cameron's best friend. They have been friends with Stephanie and me for many years. Anyways, the day drags on but nothing was quite as eventful as this morning. It was like something had taken over Mr. Martin. Eventually, final bell rings and I race to find Stephanie, so we can go start our research, seeing as we have all of spring break. I soon find her and we embark on our journey home. As soon as we get to my house I immediately told her to start searching social media and I would search the internet. No sooner then I sat down I got a call from Cameron. That boy is always ahead of me.
"Parker!" Cameron exclaims like he has just found a solution to a problem.
I reciprocate with a simple,"What? I just sat down to do research about this morning's occurrence, so whatever you are interrupting for better be good."
"Well, search no more I think I have a solution," Cameron says in that no-it-all voice that I love.
"Cameron, I could kiss you. Just come over with Tyler and we will see what you have found." I say shaking off the first part of my sentence, my face getting flushed with color.
"By all means go ahead and do so and also we'll be there in ten minutes." He says and suddenly I am back to reality.
"Okay, bye," I say ending the call.
I suddenly remember that Stephanie is not going to let me live down the words I have spoken.
"Some conversation you just had there," Stephanie starts razzing me.
