chamber of reflection- Mac Demarco

San Vero was a strange place. It seemed as if time would move slower or that the people seemed a little less lively, which is strange for a small town. If you were born here, you lived and died here, that's how it's always been. The people knew everything about everyone and their lives were photo copies of each other ; two parents, two kids, one boy one girl, with a white picket fence with a dog or two. The American dream.

Noah knew this too well. He's lived here his whole life though that's all he had in common with the town. His mother walked out when he was only 6, living him and his father to pick up the destruction she left behind. He was mixed too which seems like it shouldn't matter but in a town like this, that's asking for problems. He was one of the four non white people at his school and they didn't even like him, it seemed like no one did. People would call him mute or special but he never felt the need to speak to anyone in this town, he was trying to get through life like the rest of them. He had so much to say about everything, but he couldn't.

The summer had just started and he was incredibly joyed to spend his vacation hibernated in his room, his usual past time. He laid on his back, staring at his ceiling as the faint sound of prince played from his speaker. He looked at his ceiling fan, watching the blades turn and turn, blocking out the music around him. He blinked and cleared his head before he sat up with a sigh, rubbing his face. He grabbed his phone and walked out of his room and out the door to the single football field in the area. he stopped at the side of a building and pulled out a small black box from under a little pipe, opening it to reveal a small joint. He smiled to himself before he hid the box again and continued his walk, fucking it behind his ear. He had to keep it away from his house, for his dad, who doesn't do the best around drugs. Father like son.

Noah made it to the field, ducking under the bleachers on the left side where there was a little chair and radio. He smiled and sat in it, running a hand through his black curly hair. He came here as often as he could and no one seemed to care, maybe they just didn't know. He pulling a lighter from his pocket and lit the joint, taking a hit before  turning in the radio and leaning back.

"What the fuck are you doing?"

Noah jumped and opened his eyes only to see the one and only Summer Owens, giving him the dirtiest look he could muster and holding his little football. He had crazy blond hair that looked like he just woke up and dark brown eyes, black. He had dark freckles dotted across his face and cheeks and unusually pink lips. "I-I was just.." He tried to get out. "I don't care, get off the field before I make you." Summer said firmly. Damn who rained on his parade? Noah thought to himself before he cleared his throat, "I come here almost everyday, Why are you making me to leave now? I don't even see you hear unless you're with your neanderthal friends." Noah replied with a scoff. "So how about I stay here and leave you alone and you can do your little thing on the other side. Problem solved." Summer seemed taken aback before he quickly recovered himself, "Whatever. Enjoy your cancer." He said before he walked away. "It's actually just weed! Not cancerous! Learn your drugs buddy." Noah called after before he laughed at himself got em he thought before he cringed at himself.

He widened his eyes his eyes and groaned. He just talked to The Summer, your token football player whose parents were rich and perfect. He was 99% sure he didn't even know he existed and he was a complete ass to him. Oh well..

Noah looked behind him and watched as Summer kicked the ball between the field goals, his face focused. He stared for a few more seconds before he cleared his throat and ran his heads through his hair and picking up his things. He could just go somewhere else for the day.
