If Erwin can offer the infamous thug a position to the scouting legion, so why not you too? The squad leader prepared your application to the military and talked about the matter to Commander Shardis Keith. You wonder on why didn't he go against it or maybe he also wanted for the survey corps to expand their human resources outside the protection of the walls.

Erwin became your personal mentor on what are the things you needed to learn about the Scouting Legion, inside headquarters and during expedition. He taught you for 1 week without any further ado every after his duty. You learned how to properly used the trigger of the 3DMG, the way how to used the blades, the techniques to maneuver on air without falling, the tricks to survive outside expeditions and the way how to kill titans easily.

Being a fast learner, you absorbed all of his teachings in no time to waste and scheduled an on-hand usage of the 3DMG in the forest's training ground. He was impressed on your ability as you hover over the air as if like you are riding with the wind. He concluded that it was a natural talent that doesn't need a years of training to be flawless. Your (h/l) (h/c) curls flew graciously above you as you spin yourself to cut the nape of the neck of the artificial titan for training. You leave a deep cut on it as Erwin found out the flaw you did. You used your blades ever so reckless as if it was going to be vulnerable every time you will sway it above every giant's neck.

"[Name]! It is okay to cut deeply but not too reckless to worn it out on each titan you encounter! You will loose your blade supply even before you know it." as he informed you. You glanced at him and giggled as you stopped at a nearby tree. "I can't believe that flying in the sky is possible. I never felt this good!" a wide smile is visible on your face. A smile that no one can ever imagine you'll paint on your features due to what happened. Only that moment you forgot the tragic of yesterday engraved deeply in your heart and soul ‘til your breath will come to an end.

Erwin excused himself for a half day on teaching you since you don't need anymore knowledge due to your prowessness on the last day of your training with him. It was for the reason of the scheduled day of capturing the infamous thug of the underground society. You tried to convince the squad leader to go with them to experience and apply what you learned on a real-life situation. Erwin doubt for a second due to the danger awaits on the underground society since you were born with a silver spoon on the mouth.

"Erw--I mean, Squad Leader! Please. How can I learn if I won't be able to apply it on a real life situation!" you exclaimed being ever so stubborn.  He sighed in defeat as he cannot really win an argument with you. "Cadet [Name], I will try to convince the commander first before letting you join our mission." as a smirk hovered over your cheeks thinking that you could show them the damnation you are keeping long enough to what you are suppressing.

The squad leader proceeds to Commander Shardis's office as he discussed your desire to join tonight's mission while you waited patiently on Erwin's office. Fumblingly rummage upon the book shelves of the squad leader's office while a certain book caught your very attention.  It was a book about the outside world. A world with no cage called walls but oceans and mountains, rivers and volcanoes, natures and animals. You stopped for a minute trying to visualize the freedom that everyone is desiring to achieve. 'What does it feels like to be free' was the only question lingered inside your mind. After an hour of waiting and escaping reality, Erwin got back to his office and delivered his news to you.

Commander Shardis turned down Erwin's proposition for you are not yet an official member of the Survey Corps not until a proper ceremony will be held. You groan in dismay the moment Erwin said the Commander's decision for you have nothing to do to disobey. "Shit. I was looking forward to this." is the only response you could say. "Wait a minute, since when did you learned to curse?" Erwin asked you as you raised one of your eyebrow in irritation. "What? I was cursing the whole time the moment I got here and you just found it out?" "I just never thought that a former princess would be able to utter such words." "Tch. Former Princess my ass. Ever since they died, I lost my graciousness." you replied as silence filled the whole area.

A certain soldier knocked outside Erwin's office cutting the awkward silence between the two of you and said "Squad Leader Erwin, it is time to prepare for tonight's mission." as the cadet informed Erwin. "So I guess I'll be leaving you alone now." he said as he motioned in front of his door. You grabbed one of his arm to stop him before he reached the door knob and tried to convince him again even without Keith's approval. "Please. You could even use me as a decoy. As far as I know, I am capable of taking care of myself. I am not a damsel-in-distress so let me join you." as your gripped to his jacket tightened desperately pleading to join your would-be-first-mission-if-ever. "[Name], your cover-up for the recon corps would be useless if ever you'll be discovered out in the underground society. That is one of Commander's reason as to why you are not allowed to join us."

You stopped for a moment trying to process what he said and responded,  "If ever the thugs you'll catch tonight found out that the missing Princess of Wall Sina is wandering around the underground society, they would do everything to kidnap her and place high ransom in exchange for her safety." Erwin raised his one eyebrow as he tried to sink through his mind what you said. You continued "So I guess, if the criminal you are about to capture is really a big catch, he won't let someone like the PRINCESS be out of his grasp. That is where I will act as a decoy to lure them out." you said in a high and mighty tone staring deeply through Erwin's blue orbs trying to look out for an answer if he is going to reconsider what you propose.

You added "Someone who cannot risk everything cannot change anything." with determination painting your own set of (e/c) orbs. “So, I am willing to sacrifice myself here in order for this mission to be accomplished.” as you ended. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh and smirk the moment he opened his own pair of optics again and said "You are so persistent as ever. Alright Cadet [FN] [LN], time for your first mission."
