Awkward Comfort

Crickets chirped loudly in the night as cold winds blew pass trees and grass. Nocturnal animals came out to do their business and the stars in the night sky shone like diamonds.

Alucard wandered the woods with Ruby. The two have been searching for Zilong for quite some time now. Their eyes scanning their surroundings in hopes of finding the male but so far, still no sign of him. Worry gnaws at Alucard's chest. He hopes his lover was fine. Ruby notices the hunter's discomfort and pats his back. Alucard's sapphire eyes shift down to the girl as she smiles up at him reassuringly.

"Don't worry, bro!" she chirps. "I'm sure he'll be fine. He's probably picking flowers somewhere."

Alucard sighs at the assumption. "I don't think that's how Zilong copes with whatever's bothering him."

"What did happen anyway?" Ruby asks with a tilt of her head.

"I don't know.. He just told me he'd be going out. I realized something was off because of how he acted."

"I see. Well, you can ask him yourself when you find him."

A few more walks and some small talk along the way, the two eventually find the brunette sitting under a tree, a few distance away from them.

"There he is!" informed Ruby as she points a finger at him.

Zilong's head was hanging low and an arm was resting on a bent leg. His shoulders were shaking and if one looks closely, tears can be seen falling from his face.

"Oh no, he's crying. What do I do??" Alucard asks quietly, making sure Zilong doesn't notice their presence.

"Go comfort him."

"How do I do that?"

"Start with hugs."

"With what?"

Ruby slaps her forehead in a face palm. She groans in annoyance and looks at Alucard with an irritated scowl.

"You two have been dating for 5 weeks and you don't know what hugs are??" she sneers at Alucard's ignorance.

"Uhh, well—"

"Your relationship won't last long this way! You need to—"

"Shh! You're too loud..!" the blond scolds the girl and quickly grabs her arm, dragging her behind a tree to avoid Zilong's line of sight.

"Sorry." Ruby whispers softly. "But seriously, bro! You need to know some romance! Zilong digs that stuff!"

"Does he, really?" Alucard questions with a raised brow.

"Well, I think he does."

"I don't think he's the type to like lovey stuff."

"Okay, fine." Ruby huffs in mild frustration. "Just go and comfort him. Have his back. Put an arm around him too and pull him close. He'll better. Just— Just talk!"

"Right, okay." Alucard takes a deep breath and steps away from the tree and approaches the Dragon born.

Ruby stays behind the tree and peeks at them, making sure to keep an eye on her inexperienced friend.

"There you are." the blond began and stood in front of the weeping warrior.

Zilong looks up at him with watery eyes. The sight broke Alucard's heart. Seeing his lover hurt in front of him made him sad as well.

"I was pretty worried. You just went up and go.." the blond adds, his voice quiet and gentle.

He sits beside the brunette and props his arms on his knees. He looks at him with worried eyes and wonders what could possibly break him? Break the ever-so-strong-and-bold Zilong?
