I'm on my way to Jezebel's to pick her up for work, and I'm seriously hoping her brother isn't there. Seriously hoping. I pull up to her house and stop the car. I get out and start to walk to the door, the feeling that I seriously don't want to encounter her brother growing with every step. I walk up to the door and use the knocker. Nobody answers, so I assume that they're asleep still, because I am an hour and a half early, so it's not like they couldn't feesibly be asleep. I pull out my key and open the door. This is only like the seventeen hundredth time I've used this key, which her mom gave me when they moved in to be used in a case similar to this one. I enter the house and walk up the stairs...at the same time as Andrew comes out of the bathroom, wrapped in only a towel. We literally smack into each other before either person realizes that the other person is there. At least he's wearing a towel. I look behind him and see a steamy mirror in the bathroom. He must have just turned the shower off when I came in. After a second, our eyes met. I was glad to see that he was at least almost as embarrassed at the situation as I was.

I fumbled over my words, finally getting the question right. "Where is everyone?"

"At that Blue Plate Cafe, I think. I don't know, I was asleep when they left. They'll be back soon, though." (Awkward silence) "I should probably go put some clothes on. Make yourself at home."

Hiding a major blush, I made my way downstairs to the family room. I sat there, looking at all of the pictures of Jezebel and Nell. They were so cute when they were little. I wondered why there were no pictures of Andrew, because he seemed like an instrumental part of the family. Then I heard footfalls on the stairs. "Andrew?" I asked.

"No," came the reply, " a serial killer coming down the stairs to get you. Yes, it's me."

When he came downstairs, the family walked in. Jezebel looked at me, "I didn't think we'd be so long. Sorry! Just let me grab my uniform. Two minutes." She rushed up the stairs and I was left with Andrew, Nell, Annette, and Jeffery. This was...uncomfortable, to say the very least.

"Who's this?" Jeffery asked of Andrew.

"This is my son, Andrew." Annette replied

"Andrew? Last time I saw you, you were about this big. " He gestured in about the three-foot-tall range. "It's good to see you."

Andrew looked at the man, trying to hide his curiosity as to why his mother would ever choose to marry such a man as Jeffery Williams. "Good to see you, too," Andrew said with a smile from behind gritted teeth. I could tell he didn't like this man at all.

Just then, Jezebel came down the stairs wearing her uniform. "Let's go!" She said, and we were off.

When we hit the Impala, I asked her something, "How come Andrew doesn't like Jeffery?"

"Oh, he only found out yesterday that mom and dad broke up and that she married him." she replied in a nonchalant manner.

"Wow. I can see how that must be hard for him." I said.

"Yeah, I told him last night and I think he's kind of thinking that it's his fault that life went downhill when he left."
