-----------
today was stella's first day working for wilkinson inc. she was extremely nervous. sweat formed in the palms of her hands. she wore a black, cropped blouse, a black pencil skirt and black heels. she tied her hair into a small bun; only cause her hair was very short. her makeup was just foundation and mascara with a little blush and lip gloss. her boss, who was around 23-25, was in need of a new assistant. he fired the last one for always being late.
as stella stepped out of the elevator, a lady came over to her. she handed stella a paper and told her to go to mr. wilk's office, which was down the hall. the only noises were computer clicks, printers and her heels tapping on the marble floor.
she slowly lifted her hand, taking a deep breath then knocking on his door. "come in, stacy."
"i-its stella." she stuttered, handing him a paper and coffee.
"whatever." he hissed, continuing on to his work. "sit down, miss." he looked her through his eyelashes. she mouthed 'sorry' and sat on the leather chair. she crossed her legs, placing her small hands on her knees.
it was silent, just the sound of his computer clicking everytime he typed. "get me a water from down the hall. karen will show you where to go." she sat there a moment, staring down at the floor. "go!" she jumped. her face became tensed but soothed when a middle aged women appeared in the room.
"don't yell at your new assistant, samuel wilkinson." 'is she his mother?' stella thought. "go get him a water, sweetie, it's right down by the elevator." she sweetly smiled.
"yes, mrs. wilk." she stood up and scurried toward the door.
"oh, sweetie, just call me lori." stella nodded then turned the handle. she pulled the doors oven in a swift motion then continued down the hall. a girl around her age appeared next to her.
"hi, im hayley. sammy is my older brother... sadly. your name?" stella smiled, a light blush on her cheeks.
"i-im stella." she shook hayley's hand. hayley was a couple inches taller than stella; but that was normal for stella.
"that's really pretty, stella. can i call you 'stell bell'?" stella nodded her head. she was happy to find someone here around her age.
stella wasn't really comfortable in her body, her height or talking. she never really talked to anyone because she's been bullied for her height all her life. hayley threw stella a water.
"consider my brother a teacher to you. he's great at teaching," stella laughed as hayley rolled her eyes. hayley had red hair, green eyes and lots of freckles; totally different than sammy.
"im sure he is, but he has anger issues."
"its not that, he lost his father 2 years ago. he's still hurt to this day." stella furrowed her eyebrows.
"so you're adopted?" stella and hayley walked slowly to sammy's office while conversating. hayley looked down at her shoes. she lost both her parents at 3.
"yeah, my mom and dad passed when I was 3." stella's face saddened.
"oh my gosh, im so sorry. i didn't mean to ask." stella felt hurt; partly cause she lost her mother when she was 8. "i lost my mom when I was 8, so the feelings mutual."
it was silent for a moment; stella was excited to work here but also scared. "so what made you decide to work here?" stella swallowed a lump in her throat she didn't know she had.
"well my dad has cancer and we have no money to pay for chemo and my diner closed down."
"wait... your diner was 'robins family diner'?" hayley jumped up and down. "that's where I met the wilkinsons' when I was adopted!"
"i should get back to mr. wilk's office." stella walked quickly to his office, pulling open his big doors and handing him the water.
"what took you so long, miss robins?" sammy huffed, tossing his coffee in the trash.
stella sighed, "i-i was talking to hayley." she was a little intimidated by sammy. his blonde hair hung in the front of his face, covering his eyes.
he stood up from his desk, pushing his chair behind him. stella's eyes got big; he must've been 6'0". sammy's shoes hit the floor as he stepped closer to stella.
he rested his hand on her cheek, leaning closer to her. "wear that outfit again tomorrow, stella, you look cute."
stella crossed her arms, "so when you wanna whisper something about me personally, you actually get my name right." she rolled her eyes.
he closed his eyes as she slid past him. "i have to get home, my dad's probably back from chemo." she grabbed her bag and walked out of his office, swaying her hips. he watched as the girl, a very beautiful one, walked out of his office, swaying her hips and waving at hayley.
he wished she would've given him a chance, because he thought he felt something for her.
maybe...... love?
