He usually has dark circles under his eyes, after all, he works a lot during the night and doesn't get much sleep. His hair is almost always styled messily by the pillow, almost never will he do anything to make it look nice.
His clothing style, at this point, consists of whatever is clean enough to wear out. He usually goes for lighter and neutral colors, his favorite to wear being white. But those usually don't last long.
Personality:
Hayes is a naturally dogged man. He gives everything his all and when confronted with a challenge, he approaches it with different techniques until he overcomes it. He's stubborn as a mule and refuses to give up, even when it's evident that whatever he is working towards won't happen. This can be a bit annoying at times, but he doesn't care what other people think of his never-giving-up attitude.
His main passion is learning. If he can't figure something out, especially with his kids, he'll hit the books. A lot of his free time is spent at the library, his nose stuck in a parenting—or maybe cook book—to learn what works best. He's extremely inexperienced with a lot of things, so teaching himself from books is all he can do.
He's an ambivert, he tends to switch between extrovert and introvert depending on who he is with. Though, lately he has tended to take the latter, as he hasn't been able to truly go out and have as much fun as he used to. Sure, he loves nights in, but he misses going out and meeting new people like he could before.
He absolutely hates arguments. He'd rather go back and diss something he likes rather than debate back and forth on it. He just likes to keep things civil and peaceful, drama is so lame to him. Unless something is extremely important to him, he won't step up and argue with someone. Even then, he's very hesitant to defend himself and will most likely try to diffuse the situation as quickly as possible, he's a peacekeeper, that's for sure.
All order could go out the window, and Hayes could be perfectly fine. Disruptions, messes, tantrums, everything could go wrong, and Hayes would still be able to keep up and handle it. He seems to thrive and really shine in situations where everything is going to shit. If his kids are acting up, he knows how to get them to sit and act proper, and calm them down during times of high emotions and stress. High-tension situations are sort of foreign to him, but he still somehow manages to fix it somehow.
Very, very patient! It takes a lot for Hayes' temper to come out.
Occupation:
Bartender
Family:
He comes from a small family, he only has one brother and his parents. Though, he has two kids, a daughter, Lucy, and a son, Milo. He's a single parent, which can be a bit of a handful for him, but he's trying his best.
Childhood:
He was blessed with a wealthy, upper class family and lifestyle. The advantages that came with being rich were ones that he never came to truly appreciate until he was older, and kicked out of the house to fend for himself. Moving away from his childhood home in Canada and instead finding a new place to stay in Indiana, USA, and a few years after settling in, he met a beautiful girl named Heather. Dating for three years and finally married at 25, they had a baby girl not long after. About a year and a half after Lucy, their daughter was born, their son Milo followed.
Though, Heather, a few months after giving birth to Milo, suffered from an unexpected heart attack and passed away, leaving Hayes to raise their kids alone.

Scenario 1:

"What's this, daddy?" The little girl's voice rang out, basically a shout as she asked about various different foods in the fruit section of the store. He laughed as he tried to hush her and remind her of inside voices, but answered her all the same. She would chorus with various "ooo"s as she observed the different types of fruit, examining them and their color. Currently, she was feeling the texture of a grapefruit, turning it over in her hands, taking it all in.
"Is that the one you want to get?" The father asked, bending down so they were eye-level, and when she nodded excitedly, he held out the bag for her to drop it in so he could weigh it. Though, as he raised his head to look around and ask his son if he wanted to pick out a fruit too, he was met with a vacant spot where the child once was. Panicked, he stood quickly.
"Lucy, have you seen your brother?" He asked, gazing around to see if the familiar, dark haired boy would come toddling out from where he couldn't see him.

The young boy pulled on your shirt, first softly, then a bit harder when he didn't get your attention within the few seconds he had been there. He held up a bottle of maple syrup, something he probably grabbed off the nearest shelf, and tried his best to push it into your hands wordlessly. Though, when he looked up and saw the unfamiliar face of the person he thought was his father, he pulled it away and held it close to his chest, as if it was something he had to protect from the stranger.
"Ah! Milo!" Emerging from around an aisle, a relieved looking man hurried to retrieve his son, pulling the little boy close. "I'm so sorry if he bothered you. He's usually the good one when it comes to wandering off." The dad laughed, running a hand through his messy hair nervously. You...

Scenario 2:
Hayes wasn't sure if he wanted to do this. Even if it was for a measly three hours a day, his heart sunk at the thought of it. But, he needed the time to get work done, so if his kids were to be separated for him for a few hours a day, that was the best decision.
He approached the steps of the daycare, holding Milo's hand. Lucy was already at the top of the stairs, excitedly switching from topic to topic, pointing out everything she saw with an ecstatic tone. As they reached the top, Milo seemed to fold in on himself, clutching his father's large hand tighter, as if that would prevent him from being separated. Lucy, practically bouncing with excitement, grabbed hold of his other one, waiting for Hayes to lead the way through the daycare doors.

As soon as they were inside, Lucy made her way over to the gated entrance into the section of the daycare for building blocks, where you were busy. Careful to keep an eye on her, he approached the secretary and signed the two of them in. Milo clung to him so tight that his knuckles were white. Hayes moved over to where Lucy was, giving her a kiss, telling her good bye, then doing the same to Milo as he pried him away. As he started to leave, he made eye contact with you, he smiled and waved goodbye. You...
