Marvin stood in front of Whizzer's grave. It had been a few months since his lover had left this world and he was trying to get over it, but it was too hard. It was impossible.
"Marvin go home" his grave read.
Marvin sniffled and left the roses by the grave, turning around and leaving. He walked back home, it was a long walk home, but he didn't care, it gave him some time to think about everything and nothing at the same time.
The bags under his eyes were stupidly black, like if the man hadn't gotten sleep in years. He didn't care about this either.
Marvin kept on walking, it seemed like he had nowhere to go - he wanted nowhere to go. Actually, he wanted to go home and find Whizzer in their bed, sleeping peacefully.
The last time he saw Whizzer, his skin was white as snow, seeing his eyes close after his smile faded away with his last words: 'I love you, Marv'.
Those four words repeated a thousand times inside his head over and over again, every single day.
Everyone tried to help Marvin in every way they could, but he either shut them out our pushed them away. Except for Jason. Marvin couldn't do that to his own son.
Marvin sighed shakily as he walked inside the apartment. It was dusty, disorganized, empty bottles of wine and other alcoholic beverages scattered across the living room, the curtains closed so no light could come in.
He tripped over some shoes and cursed under his breath, until he saw they were Whizzer's, then he apologized to the air and put them back where they were. The apartment was still - almost - intact from the day Whizzer left.
With a sigh, he laid down on their bed. No. His bed now. He turned to trace Whizzer's side, seeing where his body would've been had he been alive. He rested his hand on Whizzer's pillow and hugged it, trying to capture his lover's scent, but it only smelled like himself after all those times that he had done the same as he was doing now.
A knock on the door scared him, making Marvin sit upright with a jump. He blinked a few times and heard a few light knocks again. He got up and walked to the front door, opening it and smiling softly at the sight.
"Hi dad!", Jason hugged his father tightly, behind him, Trina and Mendel followed. He knew it was Friday. Marvin had forgotten that he had to have Jason over for the weekend. He hasn't stayed since Whizzer passed away.
Seeing how dark and dirty it looked, Trina held Jason back, "Why don't you, Mendel and dad go out for a walk at the park? I'm sure it'll do all of you some good", she smiled but Marvin knew that exact smile. Any of them three would be dead if they didn't say no to her.
Quickly, Marvin got on his shoes and put on a jacket and walked out, getting stopped by Trina, seeing how Jason and Mendel walked downstairs. "I'm sorry I-"
Trina pulled him in for a hug before he could say anything else, "It's okay, Marv", she rubbed his back and felt how he relaxed at her touch, "You go have fun with the boys, I'll get this place cleaned up with Cordelia. I promise we won't touch Whizzer's things", she gave him a warm smile. He trusted her with his life.
Marvin nodded and kissed her cheek before following Mendel and Jason to the park. They ended up having ice cream and sitting by the lake to see the sunset.
Although he wanted for Whizzer to be there with them, he enjoyed their moment together, and for a moment he was happy. He felt happy again for a short period of time, without Whizzer being there. And it ended up hurting him badly.
