The last couple weeks of summer 2012 rushed right past us. Before we knew it, school was a day away.

"I don't really see the point of totally dressing up for the first day of school. I mean wearing a nicer pair of jeans, and a nicer shirt is fine. But the girls who come to school in skirts and dresses. Like, why?" I rambled off my thoughts, mainly for myself, while digging through my drawers looking for my favorite pair of jeans.

"Dude, I know. Honestly, if you aren't going to present yourself the same way for the rest of the year, why do it fo..." the sound of Keely's phone vibrating on my dresser interrupted her.

She was looking through my closet while she turned to look at me, waiting for me to let her know who it was. I stood up to look at the screen. My eyes got wide as I read the name.

Keely must have noticed the change on my face, because she was suddenly standing by my side reaching for her phone.

I watched her face to see how she was going to react, but all that came out was, "I'm not sure what he wants, we don't even talk anymore. Plus, I'm dating Nick now."

"Well, check to see what he wants." I shot the words out anxiously, which I'm not sure why...

Keely dropped the phone in my hand, "You look." she said. Obviously being done with him, but wasn't at all made or upset.

I pressed the lock button to light up the screen again. Which said,

New message:

Connor

I tapped the 'view now' option with my thumb and read the message aloud, failing to hide my excitement,

"Hey, I know we don't talk anymore, but do you think you could give me Brina's number?"

I looked up towards Keely for approval.

"You know, as weird as this is. I was honestly thinking about hooking you two up. I mean, I know how you are with guys. You are super boy shy, but I seen the way you were around him at the fair. You were comfortable around him, and not at all shy. I think you should go for this Sab." and the way those words flowed out of Keely's mouth was just such an amazing feeling. Not because I had just gotten her approval to go for Connor, but because Keely was actually right.

Keely slid her phone out of my hands, and I shrugged what had just happened off my shoulders. I knelt down and opened the only drawer I hadn't searched through yet, and began digging.

Later that night, Keely and I laid side by side in my bed, talking about whatever came to mind. Connor texted me too that night. It really wasn't anything exciting. Soon Keely and I drifted off to sleep, as we got lost in our thoughts.
