Finn loved the weekends.
He felt like he was always working so the weekends were his little getaway. He woke up early, not wanting to waste even a second of his Saturday. He checked the time and smiled at the fact that it was only six am.
He wanted to be able to skip the morning rush of people. He hated crowds and Los Angeles always had them. This early in the morning shouldn't have much.
After getting ready quickly, he made his way to the diner down the street. He opened the door to it, the little bell above it going off and the hostess greeting him.
"Hello, just for one?" She said without looking up.
"Just me," Finn said politely.
The hostess looked up and nodded, her eyes locking with his and seemingly lighting up a bit.
"Follow me," the girl smiled and fluttered her eyelashes in a painstakingly obvious way.
Finn was oblivious as he followed behind her. She weaved her way between some tables quickly and sat him down at a small booth for two.
"Coffee to start?" She asked to which Finn gave a short nod as he sat down.
He sat closer to the window, automatically pulling out his phone so he didn't have to look or speak to anyone. The bell above the door rang as someone else came in, but he paid it no attention as he scrolled through Instagram aimlessly liking pictures.
When someone slipped into the booth with him he jumped in surprise. He looked over to a girl with short hair, sunglasses, and a white shirt sitting close. She looked up at him and pushed her glasses up to perch on her head. A look of urgency came over her face and she grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers.
"My ex is about to walk in, please pretend like you're my boyfriend, at least until he's gone," her words were rushed and Finn didn't know what to do so he just nodded and went along with it in his panic.
The bell above the door rung and a rather tall looking man walked in. The girl ducked her head down a bit as if to hide and Finn looked at her with raised eyebrows. The man was intimidating, so he couldn't see why she would choose Finn of all people to show off. He was rather small, not in height but in size.
He watched as the man was seated by the hostess at a table with his back to them. Finn looked at the girl and felt nervous. She was still holding his hand and she was practically on top of the table with how much she was leaning forward. He looked her up and down discreetly, taking in her thin figure and slightly tanned skin.
She was pretty, he had to give her that. A bit weird because she was holding hands with a complete stranger but he wasn't really complaining. Maybe that showed just how naive she was. He wasn't sure how that was going for her and he felt a bit of nervous in her favor because of it.
"So when do we stop this?" Finn asked quietly.
The girl smiled at him, "Just until he leaves. Thank you so much for this by the way."
Finn nodded and looked around awkwardly. Was he supposed to talk to her? How did a boyfriend act? He hadn't had a girlfriend since high school and that was almost three years ago.
"So why are you so scared to see him?" Finn asked.
The girl looked at the man and then back to Finn, "I don't want him to think I'm single, duh."
Finn nodded but didn't really understand. What was so bad about being single? He couldn't help but feel a little offended at her judgmental tone.
"Oh you have Instagram!" The girl said a little loudly. She grabbed the phone out of Finn's hand, ignoring his slight whine in protest.
