“Once upon a time there was a little fairy girl. She had a big destiny before her and a choice to start it out with. Her choice was to either remain a fairy and keep her wings or give up everything and become a legendary Element. Now Elements were strange creatures of nature. They were strong, beautiful, and graceful, but they appeared to be Humans. Humans were a horrible race; they terrorized nature and sought to destroy all worlds, so why would such magnificent creatures want to look like them? Well, these Elements, they are the protectors of the Earth and all other worlds. Each of them has souls of the purest form that hold inside a certain essence of nature. These essences let them control the power that they hold in their souls. For example, there was this one Element, she had the water spirit in her soul and she was able to summon and control great masses of water and make it rain during droughts. But, with any great power comes great responsibility, of course. Elements were given this power so they could help all the worlds and everyone who was in it. All species liked to live rather peaceful lives, sure there were a couple fights every now and then, but the Humans were the only ones that were truly greedy about land and wealth. They took over many world and lands and drove some species like fairies, elves, dwarfs, and kelpies to other world that were out of reach of the Human’s touch. The Elements were brought to keep an eye on the Humans and try and pacify their violent ways. It was a great and meaningful role that these Elements played. That is why the little fairy girl made a great sacrifice. She gave up her wings and everything she knew. She left her fairy family and friends. She left the beautiful flowers that grew around her house. She left her memory and let it slip away as her wings were ripped off. She left her soul open to the Element’s will. She closed eyes and laid upon the cold stone ground of the cave that was dedicated to the Elements. When she opened her eyes she could no longer remember where she was or who she was. She wasn’t in a cave anymore. She was in a city. There were even Humans around her, not paying any attention to the dark haired child lying on the sidewalk. The little girl was brave though, she found a way to live in this new world. She found a way to an orphanage and was taken in by the caretaker. She adjusted to this new life; unaware of any other life she had previous known. She didn’t even know about the Lighting Element’s powers that lay dormant in her soul. The end.”
“That’s it?” A little blonde girl screeched jumping to an upright position and looking at me with hungry eyes. “That is no story! That is just an introduction! Where is the action? The suspense? The everlasting romance?” She shouted even louder throwing her hands up in the air and falling back down onto the bed.
“Sorry Eve. That’s the only story I could think up on such a short notice.” I spoke as I stroked the little girl’s hair, pulling the blonde strands away from her face.
“That’s the last time I am ever asking you for a bedtime story, Raven. It was horrible. Come on! There wasn’t even any dialogue! Or even a princess!”
“How about, the fairy girl is a princess? How does that sound?”
“Now that sounds better. Now we need her Prince Charming! When she grows up she is finally recused by a tall, dark, and handsome Element who is a mysterious character. It’s love at first sight. They are soul mates and intend to be together for ever and ever! But then, there is this fairy prince that comes to find her! He is trying to bring her back to her kingdom that is falling apart without her! She quickly falls in love with him to, since she is a sucker for guys with dreamy eyes. Now, she must decide between the mysterious Element and the sweet and caring fairy prince! In the end she chooses-!”
“Okay! I think that is enough story time for tonight.” Eve was beginning to get out of hand. She was reading way too many unoriginal romance stories and all those words were beginning to seep into her head. “It’s time to go to sleep now. You can tell me all about all your amazing dreams in the morning okay.” I leaned forward, smoothing a couple more stands of blonde hair and kissed the little seven year old on the forehead before backing away.
