I really didn’t know what was going through my head. The red head that had saved me, Aiden, had told me only to trust the dark haired male, called Ash, and the blonde girl, named Emma. Everyone else would try and kill me, for reasons unknown, and would just tell me lies. I had to trust his words. I felt like I owned him at least that much. He had gotten me away from the brown haired female that was trying to drown me and had brought me to safety. For that I owned him my life.
Now, on the other side of the river, was the dark haired male that Aiden had told me about and Jason. It was quite obvious that Jason was nearly about to kill Ash, an ally to Aiden. I couldn’t let that happen, but couldn’t get to them in time. I would have to swim across a fast paced river and by then Ash would probably be dead. So I did the only other thing I could. I reached into the broken bottom of my shoe where the rubber had peeled off and retrieved a small dagger that I had hid in there for emergencies. As best as I could, I stood up, steadied my arm, aimed, and threw. Sure enough, my aim was dead on. I pierced flesh. Soon, Jason collapsed with my dagger protruding out of his back. I knew he wasn’t dead. He was just unconscious from lack of blood. Sure enough, moments after he had fallen onto Ash, a flash of light emitted out of his body and he had disappeared like he had never been there.
Ash sat there on the ground still. He stared at me with big black eyes. He seemed confused. Was he startled that Jason had disappeared in a flash of light? It didn’t look that way. He wasn’t frantically looking around trying to figure out how that had happened, like I was. He was just staring at me. What? He didn’t think I could throw a knife?
“What are you staring at?” I questioned harshly trying to navigate my way across the stream by jumping on rocks that sat in the water.
“Um, nothing, sorry. Where did you get that knife?” He asked as he scrambled to his feet and began walking closer to me.
“Bottom of my shoe is broken, I hide stuff in that. What? You think a girl like me would be stupid enough to wander the woods at night without any weapons? Do I have ‘idiot’ stamped across my forehead or something?” I spoke quite bitterly as I finally reached the other side of the stream and stood right in front of Ash. He was much taller than me and I had to look up at him, but I still stood strong. He had dark eyes, as dark as his black hair. I would have thought they were black if it wasn’t for the fact that it was nighttime. They were probably a really dark brown, perhaps
“I didn’t mean that you were stupid. That was actually quite a brilliant move there. I-I, um, I just was wondering where you got the knife fro- oh never mind.” For such a strong and handsome young male he sure was nervous.
I narrowed my eyes slightly, okay now the fun and games were over. “So, mind telling me what the hell is going on?”
“It’s a very, very, very, long story. I am sorry, but that is going to have to wait a bit. Right now we have to find Aiden and Emma. They can be in serious trouble.” His dark eyes glanced around nervously.
Before I knew it, he had grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him as he took a few steps backwards into the shadows of a nearby tree. Then everything went black. It was strange. One moment we were in a forest and the next there was nothing. All you could see was pitch darkness. Even when you squinted and tried to make out something, there was nothing but black. The strangest of all is that I couldn’t feel anything. It was like I was floating in space, but I could breathe. It was odd. The only thing I could feel was Ash, with his chest against mine and his hands wrapped around my back. Normally I would have shooed a stranger’s hug away, but under this situation, with surroundings and ground unseen, I was sort of grateful for the support.
It all happened in a few moments. Surroundings, darkness, and then a different surrounding. We were away from the stream, this time we were now in a large clearing. There were two teenage females here as well. One of females had long blonde hair that was in a French braid. Blonde, she must be the ‘Emma’ that both Ash and Aiden were talking about. The other was a girl with short black hair that fell to her chin and light and lifeless gray eyes that seemed to just dart around aimlessly. She had delicate and pointed features. If there were such things as pixies I would have places her as one of them. She still had a beautiful appearance to her. Her moves were graceful like Emma, yet her eyes seemed to move with no rhyme or reason. It seemed odd.
