A friendship in Denial

Ch. 1

Jenna's POV -OC-
After I greeted Serene, she was rambling on about some sort of thing she did over the summer, I didn't quite understand it. Disney was it? I don't know it must have been some thing muggles do for fun. After a while, we thankfully made it to hogwarts. As usual we were escorted to the castle and started the feast. Dumbledore announced a new DADA (Defense against the dark arts) teacher, his name was Professor Lupin. I wonder why all of those teachers never seem to stay for more that one year.

"Hello Jenna" said a calm voice, I turned around and saw Draco Malfoy. His hair wasn't gelled back but he was still pale with grey eyes. "Oh hello Draco" I said expressionless, "Do anything over the summer?" He asks curiously. We were interrupted by a the sorting hat yelling "SLYTHERIN" so we clapped until I replied, "Nope, other than fly around on my brothers old broom and lay in bed"

I sighed. "Dracie!" Pansy interrupted, "Why don't you come talk with me!" She said out of jealousy. "Way to ruin a conversation Pansy" I said loudly. Pansy scoffed, Malfoy snickered and gave me this 'thank you' look. We finally got to the dorms and I took a quick shower and went to bed.

I woke up the next morning fresh and eager to start the year. As I was walking in for breakfast I saw Serene, I walked over to her and then she asked "What class do you have first" awkwardly I said "Uhh transfiguration" "Me too!!" "Yay" "Yay" we said stupidly. At breakfast I got a letter from my owl, Leo. I checked to see who it was from, it was from mum and dad, along with a wrapped up box.

Dear Jenna,
Hurray! You have made it through two whole years of hogwarts!
We are so proud of what fierce Slytherin you are, just like your father and brother.
I sent some of your favorites! Remember, be who you choose and want to be.

With love, Mummy and Daddy

I smiled and opened the box. There were scones, English muffins, and lemon tart, I walked over to Serene's table quickly and left her an English muffin.

    A few days later we had DADA with Professor Lupin, Serene loved his class and I did too to be honest. Today we were learning how to defend ourselves against boggarts (since one had moved in hogwarts), apparently they are supposed to take form of your greatest fear. Neville went first, he stepped up to the wardrobe and Professor opens it. What came out was Professor Snape, I tried to hide a laugh considering that was his worst fear. (Sorry guys it was a fan fic so I had to add Serene somewhere Lol)

"Riddikulus!" He yelled

At that moment we all burst in laughter, Professor Snape was dressed in what looked like woman attire, with what looked like animal skins around his neck as some sort of scarf. After a while my name was called. I gulped, what was my greatest fear? I had to find out. The wardrobe was open and what stood upon me made me flinch.

Thousands of ugly cockroaches crawled upon the wardrobe, I hesitated a lot but finally I screamed

"RIDIKKULUS!!" I said on the top of my lungs then ran to my seat not caring what happened to the roaches but I was very well terrified.

Serene went up next. She seemed very calm about it, at least more calm than I was.
Professor Lupin opened the wardrobe, and what came out was a mirror. Not just any mirror, this mirror seemed to reflect on the worst side of her. Serene couldn't stand the sight of it so she pointed her wand and said the word:

"Ridikulus!"

After she said it the mirror now showed a happy version of herself (her normal self) instead of an angered yet sad and dreary one.

Me and Serene were walking to the next class when we were stopped by Malfoy.

"Still hanging out with that mudblood eh Jenna" he said cooly while Crabbe and Goyle laughed.

I could see Serene's cheeks getting red so I decided to defend her, thus, kicked him in the shin.

"Ow! Why the bloody hell did you do that for!?" He yelled. "Because you were mean to my friend so back off idiot" Draco rolled his eyes, "it's not my fault you're friends with a mud- I mean muggle born" he said catching himself. I smirked, Serene smiled, and we went about our day.
