I couldn't wait. I've always loved starting new schools. To me it feels like a whole new adventure. I guess I have just never been afraid to meet new people. It's easy for me to make new friends and I've always been quite popular. But I can't take all the credit for that. My dad works with Atlantic Records so a lot of people know him. That's why we moved here to L.A.. I'm really proud of how far my dad has come and I just wish mom was here to see. But hey, my life is great and I shouldn't complain. Bring on my first day of school!
I walked into my new class and went and found a seat at the back. I was so focused on watching people walk in the door after me I didn't notice a girl sit down behind me.
"Um, excuse me?"
I hear a voice. I sit up in my chair and look to my right.
"Sorry to bother you." She says.
"Oh no, it's fine."
"Oh great! I haven't even told you my name yet. I'm Sabrina. What's your name?"
"Layla." I see Sabrina's face drop a little with a confused look.
"Are you sure I'm not bothering you? Because I mean I could go and sit with my other friends over there........." I can tell she is trying to make me feel bad for not being very polite but im not falling for it.
"Ha! You can go if you want. I didnt ask you to come over here in the first place." She gives me a satisfied nod.
"Na. I was gonna stay with you anyway. But, uh, you might wanna move out of that seat and come over with us."
"Why?" She glances at the door just as a REALLY cute guy walks in.
"What? Because of him? Na. He seems harmless."
"Yeaaaa well youll soon see." The boy walks over to where me and Sabrina are sitting. He looks at me. Than Sabrina. Then me.
"Ahhhh, Sabrina? Have you not told little miss new girl that this is my seat or has she just chosen to ignore you?" He says with a pathetic, but cute, smile. Before Sabrina even has a chance to open her mouth, I answer him.
"Im sorry. Im not sure who you think you are but i definitely know that you're not my mom and you cant tell me what to do. Ok bye."
"Ooooh boys shes a fisty one! But thats ok, I'll let her away with it this time. After all, she is pretty cute. Im Daniel. What's your name hunny?" He smirks at me.
"Piss of Daniel. Im not interested."
"Alright then. Come on boys, lets go." He winks at me and walks off.
"Ugh." I slump back in my chair a little.
"Layla, you are the first person Daniel has ever listened too. You gotta be careful around him. Hes dangerous." I roll my eyes at her.
"Sabrina the only thing that boy is, is bossy and pathetic. He hasn't got a chance with me so dont worry about it!"
"Yea thats what I said."
I jolt upright. "Huh?"
Before Sabrina can answer me, the teacher walks through the door.
"Phew. Good morning everyone. Before we get started with the lesson lets welcome Layla into our class. Shes moved here all the way from Michigan."
"You know miss i think ive already met enough people this morning so id prefer if we just got on with class."
"Oh, well uh, ok then. Class get out your books and turn to page 73."
Honestly I dont wanna do anything so I pull out my sketching pad and start to draw a beach scene. It looks like CRAP. I cant seem to focus so i try to block out the noise of the class as I get a soft tap on my shoulder. I get such a fright i jump out of my seat.
