Ahh, I've never written fanfic before, so be nice! It's just so I won't get bogged down with the unhappiness of What Happened To You xD

A Dramione Story - Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger!

I don't own the characters - they belong to J.K.Rowling, as does the original storyline of Harry Potter.

This is set in their 7th year at Hogwarts - the years all restart as they were in the start of book 7 because its decreed that last year was to be disregarded in their educations - Harry and that year are still 7th years, Ginny is 6th year, etc. Voldemort is defeated too, yaaay. This also disregards the end note at the very end - screw 15 years later or whatever xD

Here goes...

Hermione's POV:

It was strange to see Hogwarts rising in the distance as I looked out of the window. In fact, it was strange to be sitting here in my new school-robes, about to start a new year - as if last year had never happened.

But it had - and I felt much more mature for it, now that Voldemort was finally gone.

Across the carriage sat Harry and Ron, my two best friends - Ron and I had split up a few weeks earlier. It was just wierd, but being such close friends for such a long time meant it just felt unnatural when we were close. Ron and I had agreed to remain friends, and I thought it was for the best - I prayed Ron wouldn't keep his feelings for me, though sometimes I would catch him looking at me in a way that suggested he hadn't quite got rid of them.

I felt like I wouldn't quite be at rest with the events of the last year until I had got into my regular school routine - it cheered me up to think that I would soon have access the the library that I had missed so much, and various lessons I would be doing again; I just wanted to get back to normal, be a normal kid in school.. or rather, as normal as it can get for someone who was best friend with the 'Boy Who Lived - Twice' and someone who had helped defeat the Dark Lord Voldemort on these very school grounds.

As the great castle loomed up in the evening fog, I smiled; magically restored as it was since the incredible fight that had happened in it's grounds, my school would be perfectly in order, but it would probably take getting used to, just as it would to not have Dumbledore as a headmaster.

"So McGonagall is going to be headmaster?" I asked, turning to Harry.

"Yeah. She'll be good too! Can't think of a better new headmaster." Harry said, grinning. Ron opened to say something, but the trains brakes screeching to a stop forestalled his words.

"We're here!" I exclaimed, jumping up. I passed down Harry and Ron's trunks before grabbing mine, and brushed off my uniform. The headgirl badge glinted brightly on my robes, and I smiled a little - McGonagall had sent me a personal owl about it, and it still made me feel proud. My smile fell as I remembered that the headboy badge had gone to a Slytherin; I didn't know who, but I simply prayed that now there was no heat from Death Eaters and Voldemort the Slytherin's would be less fanatic about the purity of blood - or else my last year might get a little worse.

Sometimes, even though I loved my parents, I regretted being born to them. I preferred being muggleborn to being an actual muggle, but there were certainly disadvantages; my bloodline would never impress great wizards.

I shook off the thought as we moved down the train and began walking through the throng of students towards the Thestral-drawn carriages. I was taller than most of the younger students, but I could still hear their gasps as they saw the skeletal animals pulling the carriages; it was kind of depressing how many people had seen death since the last time they were here. Small second-years were skittering around nervously as they tried to avoid going near the skeleton-horses, whilst others remained oblivious, looking at the carriages in amusement as they appeared to be pulled by an inbisible, magical force.
