The day has come. The day when Atreus and I finally go on a journey to accomplish the promise that has been made to his mother."AHHH!!" I angrily scream whilst chopping down trees hand-marked by her as the wood that will be used to free her from her earthly bonds. After chopping down the last tree, a part of my bandages on my arm came loose and at that exact moment, I remember.
I remember my past.
"The blades of chaos." I sigh as my boy was coming back from gathering more firewood for the fire. "Here! I got some more." he eagerly says,
"Get in the boat, boy."
he nods while I easily carry the tree trunk too heavy for a normal man to carry. "The hook, boy." He gives me the hook and gets in the boat slowly while I attach the hook to the trunk. I get in the boat as the silence of the forest takes place. "The forest feels... different." He says with a questioning tone in his voice, "Everything is different, boy. Try not to dwell on it."
We went back to our cabin in the woods where her body peacefully lies. I was carrying the giant wood trunk on my shoulder while Atreus directly went into the house to see her. He lit up the candles as he was saying "Lo, there do I see my mother. Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do they call to me." While dropping petals on her. He prayed that her mother will go forth to Valhalla whilst I will become a better father.
I followed him inside the house and saw him kneeling down with tears in his eyes consequently wiping them after, "She's ready." I carry her body outside and set her on the stack of wood, "Find your way home. You are free." I light the fire and we watched as she was turning into ashes, then Atreus noticed her knife strapped in one of her bandages wrapped around her body and he quickly grabbed it burning his palm in the process, "I'm sorry." He says with a dissapointed tone.
"Here" I got a piece of snow and tied it to his palm with one of my bandages. I told him to squeeze his hand while I was tying a bandage to his hand, "This knife, was hers. Now it is yours."
"She taught you to hunt?" I asked.
"What she knew." He replied.
"Show me."
"Now?"
"Now."
He went back into the house to get his bow while I waited outside. "What are we hunting?" He asked, "You are hunting deer." I replied. "Which way?"
"In the direction of deer."He sighs "Okay" and runs off into the forest while I watch and guide him on how to hunt.
To be continued.
