Two big bad wolves?
Chapter Two - Dark Eyes
"Welcome to your new home A" Dad's cheery voice was heard from behind. I took in the small scenery in front of me, the small cottage was set somewhere not to far from my new school which I caught a glimpse at during the car ride. It was a plain white house with black long wooden panels hugging the edges of every corner and window outline, the was a small driveway leading off onto the main road, following that was a clean cut hedge cutting off other houses and, a small garden.
Of course, I thought. There always has to be a garden!
"Do you like it?" I looked around one more time before deciding on my reply.
"Let's just take a look at the inside first?" I said quietly.
My happiness was fading rapidly and curiosity was dominating. Lowering my head, I looked left and right for any signs. Somethings not right. The air has changed, it's thick and heavy with a strong scent lingering on it.
Someones watching you
The demonic voice behind me was barely a whisper, a whisper for only me to hear, and me only.
I snapped my head to the side of where the voice had come from. I was hoping for nothing, just an open road but instead the devil himself decided to appear.
Those ocean blue eyes weren't suppose to be dark were they.
The corner of his lip slowly made it's way high and higher in amusement. What was so interesting? Me or my fear for him?
"A, you coming?"
"Yeah" I said in an unsure tone. Who is that guy? A neighbour? Just someone walking by? I shook off the thought and made my way inside the house.
I really wasn't in the mood to explore. I made my way along the small hallway and into the first room I saw. Yickes Bad Idea!
"Hey!! Go find another toilet to hack!!" Jesus! Scared for LIFE!
"Hehe, Sorry Dad!" Embarrassment hogging my voice. After walking past a room or two, and peeking through closed doors I finally found my room. It wasn't painted or anything, all it consisted of was wooden floor boards and blank walls. Great, another thing put on my list! Painting and re-decorating!
I made my way through the big pile of boxes scanning the right one. My eyes landed on the box that had 'Mattresses, Duvet and Pillow cases' written in Black sharpie and slowly began to tear off all the tape, scraping every sticky strip I found and chucked it in the bin which, thank god I found inside the closet.
I arranged my bedding on the floor, neatly placing the long material sheets so it wouldn't crinkle or bend. Shoving my pillow into its case, doing the same with the duvet, I placed them both on top of each other.
Ahh done!
"A . . . Would you mind coming down here for a sec? I wanna tell you something!" Gah! A moments peace would be helpful too! I sigh before lifting myself off the ground and making my way to the door. I whizzed across the halls, dodging the corners and swiftly opened the living room door, which I thankfully remembered is NOT the toilet door!
"Yeah Dad?" I caught him trying to lift the couch which was wrapped around with plastic.
"Um . . . Can you uh . . . Help me!" He wheezed out, clearly out of breath. I chuckle to myself, sometimes he likes showing off at how strong he is (Which he really isn't) and other days he just complains about some back pain disorder!
"Sure, is that it?" I questioned. He furrowed his eyebrows trying to trace back on what he was about to say.
"Ah yeah, I want you to give these to the neighbours" He pointed towards the two small baskets in the corner, they were all bundled up in ribbons and wrapping paper.
"Okay Dokey" Putting on a smile before heading towards the couch lying around on the floor. I grabbed a pair of scissors from the desk and poked a hole through the plastic before quickly running the blade in a straight line.
After an hour of cutting and moving objects around I finally headed out the door and made my way to the next house. I examined the identical building, the only difference was the garden which consisted of these beautiful blood red roses!
I'm sure Dad would love this neighbour, I thought.
I jogged up the small amount of steps before knocking on the small handle connected to the door. It wasn't too long before someone opened the door.
After a small chat and a few thank you's I finally headed out to the next neighbour's house. I found that the women's name was June Godfrey, she's am old retired grandmother and that her grandchildren were staying over, that adds up to why there was so much noise heard in the background.
I took large steps, covering the left over distance so I could go back to the house and rest. The air smelt foul and the grass was bare. Nothing was living besides the flickering bulb beside the front porch. I quietly creeped up the steps reaching my hand out towards the door ready to knock, but the door just swung open.
Okay….
"Hello?" I called out. No answer
I made my way around the inside of the house, waiting for some kind of noise to make a sound. Nothing.
I placed the basket full of gifts down, finally giving up, hoping later on someone will find it lying around the floor. I turned my body around and came face to face with those dark eyes.
A low growl erupted against his toned chest.
I whimper in fear
"What are you doing here" His dark, raspy voice grumbled
