Lexie's PoV

"Huh? It's the teacher's pet! Hahaha!"

"What's up with her clothes? It's so weird!"

"Hahahah! Weirdo!"

"Hey, nerd! You forgot your papers!" Suddenly, all of the paperworks I just finished fixing got thrown my way as I looked down and bit my lip harshly to prevent tears from falling. Stupid Lexie! Why can't you stand up for yourself!? Why do you have that stupid anxiety!?

I sighed softly then kneeled down as I gather the papers that were on floor, ignoring the laughs and pity looks my schoolmates give me. Why, of all places, does it have to be the hallway!? Now I'm getting humiliated at!

"What a life..." I muttered under my breath once I finished fixing the papers and stood up, not noticing someone sneaking up on me with a water bucket in hand. I sighed shakily and heard some clankings of metal behind me and turned around and was greeted with a huge wave of water.

"Hahahaha! She got wet!"

"She's soak! Hahahah!"

"My job here's done~!" I slowly looked up and met the green eyes of my all-time favorite bully, Midori. Her friends, Kazuto and Tiyo besides her as they laughed at my current state. I widened my eyes then took a step back as they menacingly took one forward.

"P-Please... D-Don't hurt me...!" I whispered loud enough for them to hear but Midori laughed like a bitch, flipping her unusually duo-colored hair before shoving a fist to my stomach as I grunted and fell down. Immediately, black spots covered my vision before I closed my eyes but before I lost conscious, I heard them laughing hysterically and kick me several times.

Why is my life like this?

Is it because of my anxiety?

Or my extremely shy personality?

Or is it because I don't have any parents?

Why am I like this?

The bullying continued the next days. Putting my things in the trash. Tossing my bag to the school's fountain. Pestering me for my lunch money. You name it, they did it. They all continued until one day, a third year senior stepped in to save my ass.

"Hey, nerd!" I ignored Tiyo as he continued calling me names which I regret because when I stopped by the vending machine, he slapped me on my face. Hard. The impact was so strong that it made me stagger back then land on my bum.

"O-Ow..." I twitched when I rubbed my cheek in attempt to make it better. I slowly looked up and saw Tiyo with his fist pulled back, a sadistic grin on his face. I widened my eyes then covered my face with my arms until,

"What is going on here!?" I heard and looked up slightly only to see a third year blonde girl with surprisingly large yellow eyes. Tiyo stepped away with a blush before he ran off. I then uncovered myself and sighed in relief, looking back to the girl who offered a hand to me which I hesitantly and shyly accepted.

"Wow, your cheek's swollen! Here let's get you to the nurse!" The blonde exclaimed in worry and grabbed my hand but before I could decline, she already dashed to the Nurse's Office with me behind her. We entered the room amd noticed tht the nurse was nowhere to be seen.

"Hmm... The nurse's nowhere to be seen..." The girl thinks for a minute before looking back to me which made me look away. Why is she helping me? I thought sadly but was glad that she did.

"You wouldn't mind if I treated you, right?" I stiffened when the girl looked at me which I just nod my head frantically. The girl giggled at my behavior then made me sit down on a chair. The girl then proceeded to clean me up and treat me.

After she finished, I asked her softly. "Uhm... S-Senpai?" The girl in the sink hummed in response as if she was motioning me to continue. I breathed in heavily then looked down, shadowing my eyes.

"...why did you help me?" The third year stopped washing her hands and faced me, a smile on her face as she walked towards me then placed a hand on my head. By now, I probably look like a leaf with all the trembling.

"N-No one here c-cares for me! So why did you helped me!? Was it out of pity!? I don't need pity from anyone! I'm just a stupid, nerdy, weak bullied girl! I was born a nuisance to everyone! I-!" I was interrupted when the girl hugged me which I was taken back. I widened my eyes before it dropped in sadness, a sob escaping me.

"Shh shh... Don't say that now. First, I helped you because of pity, yes but not just that, I also saved you because somehow I felt you were lonely. Secondly, Don't think you're a nerdy girl to everyone here. Sure, some might think you are one because of your behavior but," The girl stopped, giggling then looked away. I tilted my head at her. She looks...familiar.

"I heard from my classmates that you're one of the top ten in your class and that you're a really cute girl. I can't disagree with that one." The girl then turned serious as she looked at me sternly like a sister scolding her little sibling for stealing a candy.

"And lastly, Don't you ever, ever think that you're a nuisance to anyone. You just think you are when you're actually not." I then looked down to my feet as I started to tear up, especially after remembering my parents.

"B-But, my parents t-told me that I was born a nuisance to them and to everyone I met, even you Senpai... I was born useless..."

"Really now?" The girl said as she first frowned before she smiled warmly at me. "You're not a nuisance to me though. And you're helpful too! Especially to the elders and children and poor people and, well, basically you're helpful to everyone!" She finished as she grinned me. I looked at her as I processed everything she said. I'm not...useless?

"H-Helpful...?"

"Yeah! I saw you that day when you visited the elders and even helped an old lady cross the street!" I widened my eyes in realisation as tears filled in my eyes. I'm actually...useful...for once? How comw I didn't realized that one? I was so overjoyed that I started to cry tears of joy.

"H-Hey! Why are you crying!? Oh no!" I could only crack a smile as the senioe infront of me started to panic. I giggled which made the blonde stop and look at me, causing me to look away with a blush.

"Y-You just laughed..." She said in disbelief before she started to jump around the room yelling stuffs like,

"Oh God, I just made her laugh!" I smiled until I heard my watch beep whih made the two of us look at it then scrambled on our feet, fixing ourselves before exiting the room. The girl then ga me a quick wave and smile running to where her room is until I called out to her.

"C-Can I ask for your name!?" The girl stopped then faced me, a visible grin on her bright face as she raised her hand in an attempt to wave.

"I'm Starlight Ellie! But you can call me Ellie-senpai, Lexie~!" And with that, she ran off. I then gripped my blouse where my heart was and smiled. Thank you, Ellie-senpai. I then walked back to my classroom then noticed someone missing. Where's Midori and her friends?

"Ah, Lexie-san!" I flinched then looked at my seatmate, Richard, who smiled then scratched his cheek awkwardly. "If you're wondering where Midori and the other two are, they were reported to the Principal for a case of bullying." I 'ohhed' softly then smiled.

"I see..." I sighed in relief as Richard laughed before turning to look at the door where a certain blonde entered. I then sat down then my mind wandered to Ellie then I remembered. How did she know name?

After me and Ellie met, the bullying's stopped and I got new friends, all because of Ellie who helped me. Speaking of Ellie, she and I are now close friends despite the age and year gap and she helps me with my anxiety. All of this will never happen if Ellie hadn't decided to help me. If it wasn't pity, which made Ellie help me, then the two of us will be strangers forever.

And it was all worth it especially there's someone to save you, physically and emotionally.
