The prince was stuck in a castle with no way out. There were windows, but they could only be opened from the outside. He roamed the palace, searching and searching for his escape. But no doors nor openings appeared.

He prayed every day for a companion, a friend, but no one but him walked within the castle, aside from the servants. Praying started to turn into begging as he slowly grew older.

Not knowing what it was like to speak to someone other than those paid to serve him, he started losing hope.

Days seemed to grow longer and more unbearable every time. He tried occupying himself with small activities, things he could do by himself, but he grew tired of doing the same thing.

He waited and waited, not caring if it be a boy or girl, for someone to come and save him from this prison. He was like a bird in a cage.

Then one day, he saw a window open. His eyes widened in disbelief, he had to blink to make sure what he was seeing was real.

A maiden stepped in through the window, curiosity illuminating her crystal blue eyes. The sunlight which he so rarely got to see glowed around her fire red hair, draping over her like a blanket. Her fair skin had rosey cheeks, her hands looked so delicate. Her lips looked soft. What interested him the most was her aura. She seemed so lively, yet held a certain emptiness he could not understand.

Happiness overcame him in an instant. For once in all his life, he had a chance at friendship. Since he was an adorable child, he never knew anyone his age, and now he was a handsome teen, still searching for the light.

The stranger looked up and a quiet gasp escaped her lips. She looked up at him in surprise, but a small smile rested on her lips.

The prince tilted his head, now confused as to why she was here. When he asked, he wished she would speak once again, he loved the sound of her voice.

"I was simply curious." She said. "I've been in the woods many times, but not once have I ever seen this castle- I decided to investigate." A cute determined look played in her sparkling eyes.

Her bubbly attitude caused a grin that seemed to light up his whole face. She blushed lightly.

"I didn't mean to intrude though." She added quickly.

"I don't mind at all really." A flicker of sadness flashed in his mismatched eyes. "It's nice to talk to someone."

"Oh? Are you alone?" She asked with her eyebrows raised. "In this whole castle, it's just you?"

"No, but everyone here is a servant. I don't know why, I'm never allowed to speak to them. If I do, then they just don't respond."

"Ah.."

"Who are you though?" Curiosity was laced in his voice.

"Oh, right! I'm Ash."

"I'm-....."

"What's wrong?"

"I've never had a name.." He looked to the side in slight confusion mixed with realization. "As long as I can remember, I've just been called Prince."

  "Oh.." She shifted her gaze to the ground in thought. ''If- if you don't mind me coming here again, maybe we can figure out a name for you?" She grinned widely, which he returned with a joyous smile.
