Chapter Two: Recruitment Day

  The next morning; Ms. O met with Agents Olive and Otto inside her office, so she could talk with her most trusted agents, and gauge their reaction(s) when she asked them for their opinion about the new recruits coming in that day at 10:00 a.m.

"You wanted to see us; Ms. O?" Agent Olive asked.

Ms. O said,"Yes; I wanted to talk to you two, and get to know your opinions on the new recruits that are showing up today."

Otto said,"Uh; remind me what their names are again."

Ms. O gave a frustrated grunt, and said," 1). Ophelia
            2). O'Ryun
            3). Oppenheimer
           4). Othello
           5). Oneida
           6). Onyx."

Agent Otto said,"Oh; yeah; that's right." "They're coming in at 10:00 a.m; which is right now." Ms. O and the two agents turned toward the sound of the doors opening, and Agent Ocean saying," OK; recruits; please make a semi-circle around the front of the staircase, and stand at ease."

  Ms. O looked at her two trusted agents, and asked, "What in the world is going on?" Agents Olive and Otto looked at each other; looked back at the director, and shrugged their shoulders.

"Let's go; Agents;" Ms. O said, "Oh; this better be good, or someone is in trouble."
Otto and Olive followed the director out of the office, and flanked her as she stood on her stool. Olive on her left, and Otto on her right.

  "Agent Ocean!" Ms. O exclaimed.
"What is the meaning of this?!" "Did I not say this morning that I wanted everything done QUIETLY and IN AN ORDERLY MANNER?!"

Agent Ocean looked up at the O.S. director sheepishly, and stammered,"Uh; Yes; Ma'am; you most certainly did; Ma'am."

Ms. O glared at the now trembling agent, and asked,"What is the meaning of all this ruckus then, and WHY are these recruits acting like they are in the military?" "This is UNNECESSARY and a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!"

Agent Ocean stepped back, and mumbled something under his breath.

"What was that, Agent Ocean?" Ms. O asked. "I didn't hear you; if you have something to say to me SPEAK UP!"

Agent Ocean shook his head, and remained quiet. Ms. O gave another frustrated grunt, and turned to Agent(s) Olive and Otto. "Please take over for Agent Ocean, and do things by the book; please, and thank you."

Olive and Otto glanced at each other and then said,"Yes; Ma'am." Ms. O said to Agent Ocean,"You will go to your station, and wait until someone comes to get you to come to my office; is that clear; Agent Ocean?"

Ocean gulped again, and nodded his head. He turned to go, then turned back towards Ms. O.
"Uh; Ms. O?"

Ms. O asked,"What is it now?!"

Ocean said," I was just wondering who would be coming to get me from my station?"

Ms. O said," I haven't decided yet; but rest assured; you'll know who it is when they show up...now go to your station; and do so quietly!" Ms. O turned back to Olive and Otto, and said,"Now; where were we?"

Agent Otto said,"You were telling Agent Olive and I to take over for Agent Ocean, and do so by the book." Ms. O said,"Ah; yes." "That will be all, Agents." She turned to go, and then turned back around towards the recruits, and said,"Welcome to Odd Squad; good luck with your training." She smiled at the recruits, and then turned, and went back into her office.

Olive looked at Otto, and said,"Something is wrong with Ms. O; I don't know what it is yet; but I am going to find out what it is."  Otto looked at his partner, and said,"You're always thinking something is wrong with one thing, or another; Agent Olive."
