I put my hand around the damp glass, before looking into the bar to see who it is for. I see a man staring at me accusingly, and I squint at him, wondering what I have done wrong.

"What the fuck you think you doin? Standing there, not filling up me bloody cup? Bet harry would be disappointed if I had to rat you out on you first day here, hmm?"

My eyes widen at the men's foul language, but I'm not surprised. The men here have already called me every name under the sun, and it only 7pm. I've only been her 5 hours, and still have until midnight yet.

I showed up a few minutes before 2pm earlier, with Harry looking at me approvingly. I wore my most modest outfit, not wanting the old men to leer at me, and pretended I knew how to pull a pint. It wasn't that difficult.

My eyes wonder back to the man, where I apologise profusely. I don't want to get on the bad side of any of the men here, seeing as I am no match for them.

I fill up his pint extra high, cause I don't want no trouble, and he nods. Slamming the cash onto the table, then walking over to a seat in the corner. I sigh. That was close.

I've been on my best behaviour all night, not wanting to start anything with anyone here, cause I really need this damn job.

When I told rose I got the job last night, she was ecstatic. She was coming to meet me here soon, after saying she wanted to 'watch me at my new job.'

Just as I am thinking over this, rose wanders in, the door slamming behind her, as she smiles at me. She walks over, confidently, and sits on the bar stool in front of me. She looks beautiful, but like she doesn't belong here. Like she should be with one of the posh nobs, back up in London.

"What would you like as your beverage today, ma'am?" I say jokingly, my grin getting wider.

She chuckles back, before replying. "Ooh, a glass of rose would be lovely, kind sir."

I smile and shake my head, but pour her a glass.

"Is it not on the house for your favourite customer?" She asks. I roll my eyes at her.

"It's my first day here, I can't be giving out free drinks already." I retort, and watch as a big smile lights up her face. I love to see her happy.

"You wouldn't believe what happens last nigh!" She suddenly exclaimed.

"Rose, I can't talk right now, ok? I'll talk later, when it dies down." I tell her, shaking my head once more. She sighs and tuts, before rolling her eyes, and turning to the man on the right side of her.

I shake my head before serving my next customer

It's late now, and rose has wondered off somewhere with another man. Harry calls me over, his eyes looking worried.

"Are you alright, harry? You look so scared?"

He looks over my shoulder, ignoring my question. "I'm expecting a few guests later, they will enter that cabin over there," he gestures to it, "and will order there drinks. Give them a glass of straight whiskey, and five pints. You might have to give em more later. Treat them with respect, Bessie, and try not to say too much. The drinks are on the house. The drinks are always on the house, ok?"
