My name is Jade, I am 17 years old and I am having symptoms of depression. And I don't fcking care anymore... pitiful I know
It was time for my usual meeting with my psychologist Dr. Seuss. Yes like the name of the author that writes stories for kids. My mum let me to the street where his office is.
“Call me if you want anything and I will come and pick you up as soon as I can!” she said while I was walking towards the building.
Every time I go to Dr. Seuss she tells me the same thing. I believe, that she is worried about me because most of the times I end up crying, but after some minutes I feel much better!
I was meeting with Dr. Seuss once a week for about a year now. Usually I was visiting him on Wednesdays, but I ended up having a woodworking class on Wednesdays for this summer, so from now on I will visit him on Fridays. This was our last meeting because Dr. S. was leaving with his family for the summer holiday.
"Mum! Don’t worry about me. Bye” I said
“Bye honey” she shouted

I arrived earlier than I had to so when I opened the door I went to my usual seat in the waiting room while I was looking at the floor (this was a bad habit I had since I was little) But when I sat down I felt something hard against me so I jumped off the armchair. When I turned so I could face the armchair I saw a boy around my age with short black hair and hazel eyes looking at me smiling.
“I’m sorry” I muttered to him and then walked quickly at an armchair which was not that comfy, but it was the furthest away from the boy’s. What’s wrong with you Jade? You just sat on top of someone, are you stupid or blind? Now he will think that you are crazy! Fuck! I can’t… I hate this feeling... I have to go away from him… Then I decided to go to the bathroom even if I didn’t want to, so I could relax before I will face him again.
I started to walk towards the bathroom trying to be as quiet as possible so he would not notice me, but this was impossible as his eyes were piercing mines. When I reached at the bathroom I slammed the door behind me and looked in the mirror. I was blushing so much that all my face was like a tomato. I quickly put some water on my face and took some breaths.
When I left the bathroom and went to the waiting room I noticed that the boy was now sitting on the couch near the armchair. With a small smile I started walking toward the armchair. While I was passing from the boy I stumbled and while I was waiting to crash on the floor and become officially embraced,I felt strong arms around my waist. When I opened my eyes I was standing some inches from the floor and an angel with hazel eyes was holding me. I felt so safe with his eyes locked with mine. I couldn’t look away, I wanted to stay there forever, around his strong arms. What the fuck? Jade wake up! Now it’s certain that he thinks you are crazy. I tried to move, but he didn’t let me. Not that I had a problem.
“You should really stop looking at the floor while you walk” he said with a small smile.Oh my god, his smile, his dimples… Wake up Jade!!!!!! I tried to leave from him again and unfortunately he let me go.
“Sorry” I muttered heading and then sitting to (my) armchair feeling awkward.
“Basically I am sorry…I put my leg in front of you so you could fall” he admitted comfortably.
“Thanks then” I said under my breath thinking that he wouldn’t listen, BUT NO! He listened. Stupid, big mouth!
“No problem. I hope from now on you will learn to stop looking down while you walk.” He said comfortably.
When I heard that I moved my head and my eyes up so I can face him. But as soon as I did it I regret it. He was there… looking at me with his beautiful eyes…Then I quickly looked down to my shoes.
After hearing some steps towards me, I felt a hand on my chin trying to lift slowly my head. I shivered with the velvet touch and I did what the hand wanted me to do. Then, I met again those hazel eyes only a few inches away from mines and started feeling so self conscious.
“When I talk to you I want these hazel eyes to look at mines. OK?” the boy asked with a husky voice, too close to me that i felt his minty breath near my ear.
I must be blushing as hell. I couldn’t take a word out of my mouth so I just moved my head up and down. Unfortunately he stood up and moved back, offering his hand to me.
“My name is Nathan” he said.
“I am Jade” I said shaking his hand and feeling more comfortable with him around.
“It’s your first time here? Because it is the first time I saw you.” He asked me with a smirk.Then, I realized that I was still holding his hand. Quickly I let his hand and then put mine at my jean’s pocket awkwardly.
“No, just from now on I will visit Dr. Seuss at Fridays” I said giving him a smile.
“So… I know I just met you, but do y-” he was cut by Dr. Seuss
“Well… Nathan you can leave now, Emma is waiting for you at the car” Dr. Seuss said.
“OK! Bye uncle Seuss!” he said heading to the door, glancing at me before he closes the door and then leaves… So this means that Nathan is Dr. Seuss’s nephew.
“Come in Jade” Dr. Seuss said.
I followed him at his office as usual, but the only thing I had in my mind was Nathan.
